I have read a lot of the boards and faqs and still find no answer to this. Do Cases Quit count against you in some way, like the false accusations?

Thanks for some info on this.

Nope. They go on your record and can not be wiped clean, but they do not affect your playing. You aren't going to get retired for how many quit cases you have. It's always better to quit, rather than guess. Shady get's expensive.

*now has 223 quit cases*

There is a relatively minor way in which they count against you...one I just learned myself when asking a question about favors.

After successfully solving a favor, it takes 3 more correctly solved cases to get another favor. So, a quit case makes you go a little longer until getting another favor.

I see you have subscribed, so perhaps this isn't as big a deal to you as it is to someone unsubbed.

Good point Last Train! Thanks! I sometimes forget that the little things can be big to those without a full subscribtion. :)

There is one other small way it might matter, though. An even smaller way.

If you are trying to get to be number one in the standings of who has solved the most cases in the last week, quit cases will count against you there AND be displayed. That's the only place it ever gets made public, as far as I know, and even then it only shows the cases quit in the last seven days, not total.

It's happened to me that I had more cases than someone else, but also more quits, so I was behind them in the standings. This was slightly annoying, as I had not quit those cases because I could not solve them but rather because they were favors for people I did not want to get as my contact. Aside from my bruised pride, I am sure no one else cared!

In fact, I used to care a good deal about quit cases, until the expansion came with gave us the three new cities (aside from NYC, which used to be the only one). At that point, many of our agency's detectives (including mine) got a lot of quits on their record as we tried to coordinate getting the full range of contacts in the different cities.

But by quiting cases you can influence the contact you get =)

Nope, Shady only wipes out false accusations. Which is quite enough, as three of them lead to permanent retirement. Quits don't do anything much, and they can benefit you, if you use them strategically, as mave said.

you get contacts by doing favors for townies - two per city. There was a recent thread on this - I've added it to my Mod picks section, if you want the details.
