im not sure what the hints that the townies give mean. when they say that X hasnt heard anything and X thinks they know who the murderer is. i just cant quite figure out how to put them toward the case.

Hee hee, Hazel! Dead suspects were NEVER the killer! I am sure you meant to joke, but someone out there will read what you wrote and think the dead suspect can still be guilty - not so!

Smokey Joe - In harder levels all suspects and townies clam right away. You need interview skills and the right outfit in order to get any info.
If your suspect died and you are stuck, try asking the townies what they know. This will release new suspects. But be carefull you'll still need to find their motive later.

...the right outfit?

I currently have a black trench coat, a plaid scarf, a golden turban and a switchblade. I am so stylin' right now, lemme tell ya.

However, I assume you mean ones that enhance what skills you have, in which my bizarre assortment of er, totally fashionable garments does... kind of. But is there more to it than that? Like should you have only ones that enhance charm, smarts, or toughness, etc? I know you obviously don't want objects that enhance charm if you have no charm skills, but I saw someone mention a "good smarts outfit" or something in another thread. So... just a little curious about what makes "the right outfit".

By the right outfit we mean maximizing what ever side you want.

Using all smart gear (bloodhound, white lab coat, etc.) will give you a very high Smart bonus. Using the tough gear (sword, tommy gun, etc) will give you a vey high Tough Bonus.

When you are in an agency (you have to be subscribed to join an agency) you have a locker to store things in. And you can wear Smart gear to find evidence, then Tough (or Charming) gear to talk to suspects.

The right outfit depends entirely on your preferences as a detective. There is no definative right or wrong outfits.

Hrm... it actually hadn't occurred to me to switch outfits in the middle of a case, but good to know for when I actually have enough equipment to be able to do it.

Thanks for clarifying.

Smoky Joe, she'll never clam up on you. So any evidence, alibis, or other questions you have for her, ask away!
