Yesterday morning at 6am, Texan, Woody, Zech, (our Yorkshire Terriers), & I, got up to get ready to leave for Katy, TX, to see our Pain Control Specialist, when Woodrow & Zechariah started coughing none stop. I became frantic because we had to go see our doctor, & couldn't take them to their doctor until we got back. So, to help stop the coughing I gave them small doses of Tussen DM, a cough formula. I gave this until we got back & rushed them straight to the Vet, at which time Woody was coughing continuously & having tremors. I was afraid Woody's trachea would collapse because a dog bit him on the neck years ago & damaged it. After the doctor checked them from head to toe, his prognosis was Bronchitis. Bronchitis has an incubation period from 5 to 10 days, then when symptoms are noticed, there's a harsh dry cough, aggravated by activity or excitement, sneezing, plus mucous in the throat that keeps one coughing & gagging, in an attempt to clear it, as well as a temperature. Neither of our boys had a temp or was sneezing. By getting treated right away this prevented the infection from elevating into a secondary bacterial infection or pneumonia. He had to give Woody a narcotic cough suppressant shot, to help him relax & stop coughing. He also prescribed an anti-inflammatory drug & anti-antibodic pills for the infection. He said to keep them dry & warm, but not too hot, plus rest for seven days. Said we should see a difference by tomorrow, which we have, thank goodness! Today, Woodrow has coughed when excited, or when he wants something to eat, so in order to keep him calm I had to give him a small dose of Benadryl, & yet he's still been whining & barking to go see his friend Sunny, who lives across the street. All day long Zech & Woody have went back & forth to the sliding glass doors, looking outside to let us know they want to see their little friend. Everyday they are use to going over to see Sunny &, in fact, my spouse carries them over there two or three times daily to see him, & when they don't get to go, they let us know about it..lol. Sunny's Mom sa

I don't know about most of you, but I spoil my boys rotten, by cooking for them pork chops, steak, chicken, roast beef or whatever they want or whatever I'm cooking for us. Our pastor at our church teased me Sunday from the pulpit & told the congregation about my cooking them pork chops or whatever they want, plus I buy them clothes, coats, hats with sun glasses & push them around in baby strollers in our neighborhood. The church got a good laugh, & so did I..hehe. Some say we treat them better than most children are treated, & I say our boys minds us better than our children ever did, lol. Oh I've got to share this. Last Sunday, an elderly couple came to church for the first time & brought their 14 yr old Pomeranian. Her name was Baby Bear. They had her dressed up in a white silk dress, with pink & purple trim, white silk shoes & a matching hat. Around her tiny leg was a purple bow tied. She never made a sound during church,or moved a muscle in her Dad's arms. She looked like a stuffed toy & so adorable. People couldn't believe the pastor let them bring her in, but he said if this helped get them in church then he'd allow it. He also told us to not get any ideas..hehe.He's a sweetheart. Oh I've got to share this. Our church has a neat outreach that's really neat. Each week several people meets to support each other over the death of their pets. Several new members have joined as a result of this support group, which is cool. There's a lot of grieving hearts whose lost a pet & needs support. I've never heard of this before in a church, but I think it's great. If I ever lost Woodrow or Zech, I know I'd need support & would attend. Most churches has various outreaches, so why not this too? Just thought everyone would enjoy this:)

Did anybody see the "Miss Dog Beauty Pagent," which aired on the Animal Channel, in Hollywood, CA, Thursday night? Fifty-one female breeds from all over the US were judged for their poise, talent & evening gowns. A black & white fluffy Sheep dog named Sweet Pea, won. Her talent act was climbing up & down steep stairs on her back legs like a real person..LOL. She even walked down the stairs only on her front legs with her hind legs up in the air, as I recall. She was adorable, as well as the others. We liked a Jack Russel that pushed a baby carriage across the stage with a doll in it. The master took the doll & placed it high up on a ladder & then the dog climbed up & walked across a high wire to get the baby in her mouth, then climbed back down & went over & placed the doll back in the carriage. She then stood up on her hind legs & continued pushing the carriage across the stage. We thought she should have won, but all final contestants were great. It would have been difficult to select one winner. I can't wait to see it next year, which will be the 2nd Annual Miss Dog Pagent.

I co-owned a pet with my ex-roommate/best friend. We had to put it to sleep this morning. :-( Some of you may remember i cat sit a lot. Last year I spend 2 weeks up at night because it kept licking it's wounds and take out it's stitches. I suppose we were lucky, as the doctor gave him a few months last year, and we still had him for a year.

I don't want to have cats anymore. It's just so heartbreaking when they die. :-( I already said that before this cat, after loosing my other cat that i had for 19 years. But yeah, what do you do when your roommate shows up with a cat....
This is really the last time though.

I'm so sorry to hear this jstkdn. Bless your heart, I know how you feel about having to put your baby to sleep. Texan & I lost our Maltese, Shagarah like this & we're still grieving. She was the mom of our son Zech that we have now. Anyway, after Woodrow & Zech I don't want anymore babies. Both of our boys have been sickly, & it's going to totally break my heart when it comes to losing them. Oh yes, on the 6th of December, texan, our furry sons, & I are attending a candlelight service where everyone's bringing a photo of the pets that passed on. I'm suppose to write a song about pets & sing that night. If anyone has any ideas to share I would appreciate it, thanks!

PS: I could use poems, ideas or thoughts about the afterlife of animals. Anything along these lines would help. Once I complete the song, I'll share it here. God bless.

Instead of writing a new song, I found a poem online that texan is going to read, which is great. It's about animals crossing a bridge in Heaven called "Rainbow's Bridge." It made us both cry as we read it. To those that has lost a pet, I highly recommend reading it. Anyway, I'm going to play the keyboard softly while texan reads this poem.....so cool.
