Yesterday morning at 6am, Texan, Woody, Zech, (our Yorkshire Terriers), & I, got up to get ready to leave for Katy, TX, to see our Pain Control Specialist, when Woodrow & Zechariah started coughing none stop. I became frantic because we had to go see our doctor, & couldn't take them to their doctor until we got back. So, to help stop the coughing I gave them small doses of Tussen DM, a cough formula. I gave this until we got back & rushed them straight to the Vet, at which time Woody was coughing continuously & having tremors. I was afraid Woody's trachea would collapse because a dog bit him on the neck years ago & damaged it. After the doctor checked them from head to toe, his prognosis was Bronchitis. Bronchitis has an incubation period from 5 to 10 days, then when symptoms are noticed, there's a harsh dry cough, aggravated by activity or excitement, sneezing, plus mucous in the throat that keeps one coughing & gagging, in an attempt to clear it, as well as a temperature. Neither of our boys had a temp or was sneezing. By getting treated right away this prevented the infection from elevating into a secondary bacterial infection or pneumonia. He had to give Woody a narcotic cough suppressant shot, to help him relax & stop coughing. He also prescribed an anti-inflammatory drug & anti-antibodic pills for the infection. He said to keep them dry & warm, but not too hot, plus rest for seven days. Said we should see a difference by tomorrow, which we have, thank goodness! Today, Woodrow has coughed when excited, or when he wants something to eat, so in order to keep him calm I had to give him a small dose of Benadryl, & yet he's still been whining & barking to go see his friend Sunny, who lives across the street. All day long Zech & Woody have went back & forth to the sliding glass doors, looking outside to let us know they want to see their little friend. Everyday they are use to going over to see Sunny &, in fact, my spouse carries them over there two or three times daily to see him, & when they don't get to go, they let us know about it..lol. Goodness.. all you guys have such long stories!!!

Well I don't have many stories, seeing as I have only had three pets in my life: 2 mice and a rabbit. When I was about 8, one of my friends got mice and then I wanted them, too. They were given random names (Hazel and Peter) and then they lived in a little cage in the garage. And from the time we got them onwards, the garage omitted a constant squeaking sound from their little rotating wheel thingy. It was very cute, actually. Anyway one day we found scratches on Peter (who was the timid one, and who was actually a girl). It eventuated that the two mice had been fighting, so out came one of them and it got put in a transparent plastic box we dug up from somewhere. But, alas, several months later we found a tumor on Peter's back. There was nothing we could do for him, and Hazel got one too. No idea what caused them, but eventually Peter died. Hazel did, too. It was so sad :(

Anyway but a few years later, when I was 10, we moved from Australia to Peru, where I still live now. I had always liked rabbits, but I had never been able to get one because our backyard had no fence. Here in Peru, on the other hand, there is so much theft that everyone had huge walls and bars and electric fences around the house. So here we had a sudden inspiration and bought a rabbit. She (who we THOUGHT was a he) was christened Fluffy (thank goodness it turned out to be a she... the poor guy, being called fluffy!) Anyway so Fluffy is quite a good bunny in general, but likes geraniums a bit too much... as in: every time she sniffs a vague whiff of them, she jumps on the opportunity like a... well... like a bunny. She also likes raw pasta and rose petals. They seem to be like a sort of bunny 'chocolate'.

I guess that's all there is to tell. I never thought it was possible to like lettuce or carrots that much until I met fluffy :P

I always thought it was only in the cartoons that bunnies eat carrots!! ("eh..wassup doc?")

Anyways, I came home tonight to find Momo with a guilty look on his face.. I stepped into my tiny appartment and found a trail of magazine bits!! Turns out Momo's been chewing on my latest issue of In Style in the bedroom!!

I got so fustrated that i put him in the bath tub for isolation while I clean up the mess. He torn out the first 10 pages of the magazine and ripped them up into teency-tiny bits and spread out all over my bedroom carpet!!! *sigh*

I keep telling myself "he's just a puppy, he's just 5 months!!"

We have a cat that hunts straws. Late at night, you'll hear it making that "I just caught something" noise (those with cats probably know what I mean) and its proudly bearing a bendy straw. It'll then march that straw onto the bed and plant it in a neat little pile with other straws.

Hehe Sherlock, your cat sounds like Zech, our youngest boy. We'll put bones out for both Woody & him, but he gathers them all up in his mouth, like a pack rat, then jumps up on our bed, and hides them under our bed pillows, or late at night he'll take the bones beneath the covers & hide them there. I'm always laying on pieces of crumbs that scratches my legs. So, I'm constantly brushing them out of the bed in order to rest at night. Zech or Woody has never been distructive, but when we leave them alone in the house, sometimes Zech will string a trail of used toilet paper across the floor, from the bathroom to his spot under our bed. I don't get on to him for causing a mess, but I do wash his little whiskers off with a soapy wash rag & water, then brush his teeth with his toothpaste. This is one reason I never kiss them near the mouth, just on the top of their heads..LOL. Other than this Zech is a perfect furry Son, & of course Woody too. They're so smart & sometimes look at us as if they're saying, "Gee are you that stupid, don't you understand?" ..hehe. I love them with all my heart & would be lost without them in my life. Texan has stories to share about his pet monkey & other animals owned throughout the years:)

So, I was walking home through the subway station and some Ajema (Old Lady) had some bunnies. Being the practical, non-impulsive consumer I am, I thought "That looks like fun". So ended up taking a home a bunny in a bag.

He spent last night in the shoebox... I guess tonight I 'll go down to the PetShop and buy a cage. I live across the road from a park too so that'll be fun!

He's tiny and snuggly at the moment. Fits into the palm of my hand.
He's white with little stumpy balck ears, blacks eyes, an ittty bitty pink nose with a little black beauty spot to the right of it and has a little black stripe on his back near his bum.

HOWEVER, at the moment he doesn't have a name and is just being called Took-ee (Phonics for the Korean word for Rabbit).

So, any suggestions for a new name, free feel to send a PM to Lady Emerald Devon care of the best new agency around.

(Heh, do you think anyone noticed my obvious plug Blue and Dream?)

Ah, your new baby sounds adorable. Maybe you could call him Flash, Lucky- because he has you, or Tippy, because the tips of his ears or black. If you name him, I can't wait to find out. Anyway, give him a hug from Grandma DaRu..hehe. Oh yes, I don't think anybody will notice that you gave your agency a plug...wink***

I don't know about most of you, but I spoil my boys rotten, by cooking for them pork chops, steak, chicken, roast beef or whatever they want or whatever I'm cooking for us. Our pastor at our church teased me Sunday from the pulpit & told the congregation about my cooking them pork chops or whatever they want, plus I buy them clothes, coats, hats with sun glasses & push them around in baby strollers in our neighborhood. The church got a good laugh, & so did I..hehe. Some say we treat them better than most children are treated, & I say our boys minds us better than our children ever did, lol. Oh I've got to share this. Last Sunday, an elderly couple came to church for the first time & brought their 14 yr old Pomeranian. Her name was Baby Bear. They had her dressed up in a white silk dress, with pink & purple trim, white silk shoes & a matching hat. Around her tiny leg was a purple bow tied. She never made a sound during church,or moved a muscle in her Dad's arms. She looked like a stuffed toy & so adorable. People couldn't believe the pastor let them bring her in, but he said if this helped get them in church then he'd allow it. He also told us to not get any ideas..hehe.He's a sweetheart. Oh I've got to share this. Our church has a neat outreach that's really neat. Each week several people meets to support each other over the death of their pets. Several new members have joined as a result of this support group, which is cool. There's a lot of grieving hearts whose lost a pet & needs support. I've never heard of this before in a church, but I think it's great. If I ever lost Woodrow or Zech, I know I'd need support & would attend. Most churches has various outreaches, so why not this too? Just thought everyone would enjoy this:)
