Yesterday morning at 6am, Texan, Woody, Zech, (our Yorkshire Terriers), & I, got up to get ready to leave for Katy, TX, to see our Pain Control Specialist, when Woodrow & Zechariah started coughing none stop. I became frantic because we had to go see our doctor, & couldn't take them to their doctor until we got back. So, to help stop the coughing I gave them small doses of Tussen DM, a cough formula. I gave this until we got back & rushed them straight to the Vet, at which time Woody was coughing continuously & having tremors. I was afraid Woody's trachea would collapse because a dog bit him on the neck years ago & damaged it. After the doctor checked them from head to toe, his prognosis was Bronchitis. Bronchitis has an incubation period from 5 to 10 days, then when symptoms are noticed, there's a harsh dry cough, aggravated by activity or excitement, sneezing, plus mucous in the throat that keeps one coughing & gagging, in an attempt to clear it, as well as a temperature. Neither of our boys had a temp or was sneezing. By getting treated right away this prevented the infection from elevating into a secondary bacterial infection or pneumonia. He had to give Woody a narcotic cough suppressant shot, to help him relax & stop coughing. He also prescribed an anti-inflammatory drug & anti-antibodic pills for the infection. He said to keep them dry & warm, but not too hot, plus rest for seven days. Said we should see a difference by tomorrow, which we have, thank goodness! Today, Woodrow has coughed when excited, or when he wants something to eat, so in order to keep him calm I had to give him a small dose of Benadryl, & yet he's still been whining & barking to go see his friend Sunny, who lives across the street. All day long Zech & Woody have went back & forth to the sliding glass doors, looking outside to let us know they want to see their little friend. Everyday they are use to going over to see Sunny &, in fact, my spouse carries them over there two or three times daily to see him, & when they don't get to go, they let us know about it..lol. I was already wondering why people were sharing long stories about their past.

I thought the same thing Mackensie. But as my father (jokingly) said, why would he want to live, you can't teach dogs to read Braille.
You know, when I was a kid I had a dog named King, he was a Siberian Husky that had the same facination with winter gear, I remember being dragged around in the snow and ridded of my boots, hat, gloves, and scarves on many occasions.

When I was 5 months pregnant with my son (who is now almost 6) I purchased a sheltie. She was the ugliest puppy i had ever seen lol. But the sweetest dog ever. She of course grew up to be absolutely beautiful which didnt matter to me because i couldnt have loved her anymore than i already did. Well when she was about 4 months old she broke her leg. SHe had a cast and had to stay calm for 4 weeks. RIGHT! Have you ever tried to keep a puppy calm? My fiance built her a huge crate and she stayed in there unless someone could watch her. It was gigantic though..so big infact in didnt really serve the purpose it should have... she was still crazy full of energy just had a slightly smaller place to get it all out. Well She was no worse for wear after her cast. She was awesome. But when she was about 2 we were outback and she running around and I watched her fall for no reason. She got right back up like it was nothing but it still concerned me. I made an appt for the next afternoon to have her looked at. In between the first fall and her appointment she fell 7 more times. After exrays the vet told me that her knees were popping out which was causing her to collapse. I was shocked... but even more shocked when he told me that she also had hip displacia (spelled wrong I am sure. I was horrified. I asked him how she could have so many problems at such a young age and he asked me where I got her. I told him from a pet store and he proceeded to tell me that she more than likly came from a puppy mill and her poor mama had been bred so much that it can cause serious problems for dogs from a litter like that. I was ignorant to the subject of puppy mills so I had no idea when i purchased her. To wrap things up, she lived to be 3 1/2 and I had to have her put down. There was the option of surgery but it was so incredibily expensive that we just could not afford it. It broke my heart but she got the point where she was miserable. She still had the heart of a puppy but the body of

a very old dog. She couldnt run and wanted to so badly. She wanted to chase her ball and just couldnt She was always falling down. It tore my heart out to watch her suffer and we just didnt have the means at the time for the surgery.

I cried for weeks. I swore I would never get another pet for as long as i lived. Well I was wrong. About a year ago we ran into someone that had a litter of labs. Both my kids (the 6 year old and teh 15 year old from my husbands previous marriage) begged and pleaded for us to get one. I put my foot down and said no i didnt want another dog...well i put my foot down alright...right into my mouth. We came home with a puppy. I have to admit i am so glad we did. She is a Yellow Lab her name is Cheyenne she was born on July 4th of last year. She has been a blessing. She made me realize that it was ok love another pet after Sheila (my sheltie)and that not all pets turn out to be horrifying experiences. She didnt replace sheila, she just helped me to love another anilmal as much as i did Sheila make more memories with her and always remeber the short time I had with my precious Sheltie.

*wiping a tear from his eye* THAT IS SOOO SAD, MOON LIGHTER! Anyway, here is a little tale about Whiskey and Jayjay that happened a few days ago:

THE CAT CAUGHT THE MOUSE & THE DOG!!

Whiskey was scampering up and down the yard while I was playing with Jayjay. Suddenly, a mouse ran across the garden, and Whiskey chased after it, with no success. Soon, another mouse (maybe the same one) ran across the garden, and this time Whiskey got lucky. Unlike the chipmunk from my previous tale, the mouse was dead and gone in a few short seconds. Whiskey tore off the head, and then walked over to Jayjay and me. God forbid, that cat is a MONSTER! Well, Jayjay got terrified of the beheaded critter, and ran down the yard. Whiskey chased after him. For a few precious minutes, the two were chasing each other. I always thought that dogs chase cats, but not the opposite. But now I know it can go both ways!

Oh and also about my dog King....we also had a cat named Buffy atthat time and a bird, which was a cockatiel, named Josephine. It was amazing on how well them three got along. In fact, it was so unbelievable, we should've got it on video camera but we didnt, unfortunately!
King was an inside dog for most of his life...and our cat was an indoor cat too,and well obviously the bird was indoors lol
King,Buffy and Josie were thebest of friends. We cold let Josephine (the bird) out of her cage, and she walked around, while Buffy (the cat)would trail behind her, smacking gently at Josephine's tail, making her walk sideways LOL but Buffy never tried to hurt her. The bird would climb on top King, right on his head, and peck his ears and he, too, would never get mad, or try to bite. Then Buffy would sit between King's paws and hang out, like the best of friends. It was just so unreal to watch them get along so well. That isnt something you see all the time, a cat,dog and bird getting along like THAT LOL Even when the bird would peck Buffy for always knocking her sideways,Buffy wouldnt make any attempt to have her for dinner lol She would just keep taking her paw,and swatting Josie's tail. That was so funny!
Another time, was when King and Buffy were out in the garage playing...a mouse was in there and Buffy was having a blast playing with that mouse. The mouse wold run and Buffy would pounce on it, and hit it with her paws...well King decided he had enough, and he took his big paw and just stomped on it. No more mouse. Buffy just looked at it,meowed and walked away. Big King had spoken LOL They were quite the trio! Good childhood memories with that bunch :)

Wow, i had tears in my eyes reading all your stories! *sniff sniff*

Let me share my own story with you all..

When i was about 5 yr old, I was chased down and bitten by a dog, and since then, I was always afraid of dogs, small or large. But then, about 2 and a half years ago, I met my current boyfriend (i'm a female in real life in case anyone was wondering) and he and his brother has a 4 yr old Golden Retrevier (BooBoo). It took a while, but I learnt to let him get close to me, and then play with me, and finally I learnt to love BooBoo a lot.

My relationship with my boyfriend became quite serious, and so we decided to get a dog together 2 months ago. We bought home a 11 weeks old Shih Tsu, named him Momo, and is such a doll!!! He's so quiet and sweet, yet energetic all the time. His colour is very unique too. He has a pure white body coat, with black ears! He grew from 5lb to 10 lb in two months, doesn't bark and broke in the house within a week. He also learnt that he can't do his business inside the house within a month!! Such a quick learner!! We taught him many tricks, such as giving hands, sit, down, spin, and kiss, and he learns them within days!!

While i was sleuthing earlier today, sitting on the sofa with my laptop by the balcony, momo was pawing on the balcony door, wanting to go outside!! So i opened the door for him, and he ended up taking all 5 of his favourte toys outside with him, and he slept there for 2 hours in the sun (it's 14 degrees C here in Toronto)!!

Momo has his dog friends too!! We let him meet up with his "cousin" BooBoo every week, and momo usually goes crazy and follows BooBoo everywhere.. But I think BooBoo thinks momo is annoyning since he's so small and runs really fast around the Golden Retriver, but the big guy plays gently with momo because he knows he wouldn't get his bone if he doesn't do what we want him to!!

Momo also has two other dog friends, a super lazy and non agressive Chow Chow, and a very lady like Pomerainian (spell?). When he meets them, he usually sleeps right in front of the chow chow and they communicate with their eyes.

Goodness.. all you guys have such long stories!!!

Well I don't have many stories, seeing as I have only had three pets in my life: 2 mice and a rabbit. When I was about 8, one of my friends got mice and then I wanted them, too. They were given random names (Hazel and Peter) and then they lived in a little cage in the garage. And from the time we got them onwards, the garage omitted a constant squeaking sound from their little rotating wheel thingy. It was very cute, actually. Anyway one day we found scratches on Peter (who was the timid one, and who was actually a girl). It eventuated that the two mice had been fighting, so out came one of them and it got put in a transparent plastic box we dug up from somewhere. But, alas, several months later we found a tumor on Peter's back. There was nothing we could do for him, and Hazel got one too. No idea what caused them, but eventually Peter died. Hazel did, too. It was so sad :(

Anyway but a few years later, when I was 10, we moved from Australia to Peru, where I still live now. I had always liked rabbits, but I had never been able to get one because our backyard had no fence. Here in Peru, on the other hand, there is so much theft that everyone had huge walls and bars and electric fences around the house. So here we had a sudden inspiration and bought a rabbit. She (who we THOUGHT was a he) was christened Fluffy (thank goodness it turned out to be a she... the poor guy, being called fluffy!) Anyway so Fluffy is quite a good bunny in general, but likes geraniums a bit too much... as in: every time she sniffs a vague whiff of them, she jumps on the opportunity like a... well... like a bunny. She also likes raw pasta and rose petals. They seem to be like a sort of bunny 'chocolate'.

I guess that's all there is to tell. I never thought it was possible to like lettuce or carrots that much until I met fluffy :P

I always thought it was only in the cartoons that bunnies eat carrots!! ("eh..wassup doc?")

Anyways, I came home tonight to find Momo with a guilty look on his face.. I stepped into my tiny appartment and found a trail of magazine bits!! Turns out Momo's been chewing on my latest issue of In Style in the bedroom!!

I got so fustrated that i put him in the bath tub for isolation while I clean up the mess. He torn out the first 10 pages of the magazine and ripped them up into teency-tiny bits and spread out all over my bedroom carpet!!! *sigh*

I keep telling myself "he's just a puppy, he's just 5 months!!"
