Continued thoughts from the thread of New Skills

My rather reactionary thoughts on why this might not be such a good way to go ;)

1) Having to do Almosts as favour cases would be quite difficult if not almost impossible for detectives, who are not in an agency as this would otherwise allow them to benefit from max-up outfits and help from team mates. Getting though favours plays a big role for the individual accumulation of cash to pay off Mr. Shady, and if Almosts were the only option, I think we would see quite a few unsubscribed players as well as those who aren't part of agencies find themselves in trouble more often than not.

2) Even if you're part of an agency, you would be forced to do Almosts as favour cases when travelling away from the HQ. Granted you would probably only see about 1/5 (if not less) of the favours solved away from HQ that you see now, but I'm not sure if that would increase the excitement. Instead it would probably lead to a higher moving of HQs, but that isn't necessarily a spur-of-the-moment thing considering potential loss of stored cases, and the fact that there isn't a 1 to 1 correspondence of top HQs among the different cities.

3) As for denying experienced players access to easier levels on the regular daily cases - doing 10 Almosts a day takes time, doing them ALL on your OWN takes even more time, and for people with old computers and/or slow connections or dial-ups it takes a whole lot more time. As it is, everyone has the option to choose which level they're in the mood for or that they have time for on a given day. It's part of the versatility of the game, and it helps you to not get fed up with it too soon, because you can tailor it to your own needs.

So if you lack challenge. Choose a basic outfit (no changing inbetween neither to go to the crime scene nor to interview the various suspects and townies), do only Almost, and do them without getting help - I think after a couple of weeks you'll really start to like that the favours only go up to Incredible ;)

*jaw drops as she listens to Anstett in disbelief*

Wha....?

*places a gentle hand on his shoulder, smiles anxiously at everyone in the room, and leads him to the corner of the room*

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!?!?!

*motions to Greyling*

And there are detectives three times as old as you are that still don't have all the skills because of choices they made in the beginning that couldn't touch Impossible cases. Have you ever tried an Impossible while over seas??

I've done Impossibles on my own, IT'S NOT FUN!

*looks at him pleadingly*

If you are bored, we'll see what we can do change things up a bit, but.....

*looks at Ben imploringly*
Ben, please, please, please, please, pretend that Anstett didn't just say all that.

*plants a big innocent grin on her face and drags Anstett back to the safety of Mojo before he people start throwing tomatoes at them*

Smiles sheepishly, it was only a comment, not a writ.

And for the record I am far from bored, and am not so confident yet that I think I can automatically solve Incredibles away from home.

I agree with Greyling. Doing favs at almost impossible levels, well, would be next to impossible, almost LOL It is nice to have challenges, but not to where it is so difficult you can't do it.

I like just how it is. Incredibly Hard levels are tough enough to do,out of town on hunts, without being TOO impossible and still is a challenge :)

I say all this respectfully :)

Depending how well new skills would work. Having red hard favours in the HQ city, and incred hard favours in the field office city. Still I think this gives a really unfair advantage, as red favours would take longer to do. Giving newer agencies an advantage in the treasure hunts. And we all know that treasure hunts are not so much about being an older or newer agency, with a big or small locker.....they are all about playing your fingers off and spending a lot of time in here.
