Good advice from Greyling and reda as well, although I'll point out that when your client is guilty, you won't be paid, even when you successfully solve a case.
Still, you'll get paid all the other times!
AND the most money you'll earn will come from favors, when you receive an item you don't need. If you sell it, you'll earn more than you are making on your other cases.
