i used to be a person called lacienaga. i had like 1400 experience points, and a briefcase. but then i got 3 false accusations, and i retired. i wish that if we had like $40,000, we could buy a detective we lost to retirement back again, and they would be alive and well. lacienaga would be alive. alleluia!!!!!!!!!!! but this probably won't happen.

ps. i really like the post history addition to sleuth. it's the best!

OOOPS. i think i posted in the wrong section. if a mod comes by it would be great if this place would be moved to something like sleuth talk. i forgot to move back from newbie questions after posting the WELLLL....that's too bad thread. sorry about the mistake.

I'm a mod, but I think this is more of an issue that comes up for new folks, so I am leaving it here. The real key is to learn from your experience of getting retired and avoid it with your current detective. Look at past threads, and there are lots of discussions of retirement.

What it boils down to, in my view, is:

1. Don't guess.

2. There's no shame in quitting a case.

3. If you get two false accusations, pay off the shady character in the bar, and he'll help you out so you don't get to that third one.

Your suggestion is acctually already in use. But you need to pay the money afetr 2 falses and not wait till you get the third.

That's true . . . it's the same thing with Shady in the Tricky Mister. Tahama, if you follow Moonshh's advice, you may be a top detective one day! I'm sorry that you had to start from scratch, though.

once again i appreciate the suggestions. i already know about that guy in the bar, but i thought that it would be a good idea to bring back detectives from retirement---with the fee i mentioned. thanks moonshh, reda, and colonel shanty. i guess this is pretty well wrapped up.

* * * thinks detectives should be offed by rival factions instead of retired, brings home the point much more, people come out of retirement every day, death is more. . um. . permenant. :) Then. . . your new detective can solve the case.

I like your thinking, Steve. Death is so........final.

And we could have a sleuth cemetary! And go visit the dear departed! And maybe write epitaphs and stuff! This could be truly good fun.
