Tahama, sleuth is not a huge money maker through subscriptions alone. It tends to cost Ben (the creator) money to run it, rather than provide him with income. The banner ads are an income producer. I think they are awful, too, but they disappear when you subscribe. Plus, the game is much more fun when you subscribe (There is a whole thread on the benefits of subscribing posted by jstkdn on the newbie board), so the fact that the banner ads disappear when you subscribe is more a perk than an actual reason to subscribe, in my view. So the bottom line is, if you like to play but hate the ads, subscribe. If you don't like to play, well... that answer is easy, too! Let us know if we can help you further, as there are lots of us here who love the game and who also like to help new folks learn the ropes.

I didn't even notice when I was unsubscribed... advertising is everyway, we live in a consumer market, you could always go to deep dark Africa if you really wanted to get away from it all.. :)
*laughs* I'm the consumer queen,... I once bought Budweiser whn I normally buy Corona and I didn't know why until the next day I heard an add for Bud on my Launchcast player and was like... Wow....and anytime I see a Coke commercial, I want one... I don't even like it that much.

My advice to you Tahama is to just ignore the ads. Don't even look at what they say. Subscribing is a good thing, too. But I just avoid them as best I can.

Honestly, before i subscribed, I never noticed them at all, I guess I was just too enthralled with the game. :) or used to seeing ads everywhere already.

actually, i didn't even notice the ads before i subscribe and ofcourse now that it's gone (since i subscribe) i don't notice it even more... i guess after surfing on the net for many many years i've learnt to ignore them... Ofcourse, after having owned a website myself, I do tend to press on the ad to help the webmaster make money.. hahaha... I use to make about $5US a month on my own website ads!!

When I first found Sleuth and b4 I subscribed, I never payed any attention to the ads.I was really into the game, so that is probably why. Maybe if you're not too much into the game, then you would notice all that stuff. Never bothered me!
