What about a reincarnation option? Lets say, for example, you can spend 250 (or whatever is fair) skill points to retire and pass on 1 item to a "son" or "Daughter. Then you start all over from start with a starting bonus of 1 (or more) item(s) from your original character. There would need to be some indicator of generation to honor players that have retired multiple times, perhaps a Gold Star, or a special title.

I admit I am just begining the game, but I would imagine once you get all the skills and elite gear, even the most difficult cases would be reasonable easy, considering your own personal experience with solving them. This would give seasoned veterans a chance to taste noob status again. Even if your Daddy was the world's greatest detective, you still need to prove yourself.

the forgery idea is cool, and there could be a small chance of them spotting the forgery, would be a smarts skill and for those with tons of unspent skill points, would be a really good thing to use em on!

*wishes he had 384 unspent skill points* LOL

I think that there should be a max number of skill points you can earn. Just enough to purchase all available skills.

Then when new skills are introduced everyone can earn more points up to the new max rather than just spending them out of a pile of unused ones.

It also gives newer players the chance to be the "first on the block" to earn a new skill.

Just for curiousity's sake, a question for folks who have been around for a while...how long did it take to pick up all the available skills?

It depends how much you play. I think Im the "oldest" player. But I still dont have all the skills cause I dont play that much.
