On incredibly hard I believe I've had as many as 6 fake or non existent alibis (with only 3 physicals). I've only ever seen one physical pointing to the guilty party. But then that may be because I don't ever try to find a second one.

-Very hard-

8 suspects
4 with real alibis
4 without
1 fake alibi explained by research

2 pieces of phsy. evidence max at crime scene
1 towards murderer
3 verbal total
2 verbal towards murderer

i think thats right; im tough so there could be more physical if you have smarts

You're right about that. There are usually 3 pieces of physical evidence in very hard cases.

On a few occassions, I've had 3 pieces of physical evidence on a very hard case even though I have no smarts skills. So it's definitely not 2 max, even though 3 is very rare (and quite useless) without special skills.

i think very few of the rules for difficulty are absolute. but it's good to know what probably will happen
