I had a case where the killer turned out to be a person that WAS NOT pointed by two of the suspects I had information that they do think who is the killer. Basically, by searching the forums I assumed that there are 3 witnesses, 2 of them giving the real name of the killer, the third one giving the name of a person with a real alibi. If this is the case, you can eliminate a person from ur suspects' list if two of the witnesses, who are indicated by the townies that they think knowing who is the killer, don't have a reason to suspect the respective person. But obviously, after failing to resolve the case, it appears that this mechanism of reasoning doesn't work! So please tell me, if u know:
- how many witnesses appear in a case (is there a fix number or it can vary)and
- is it possible to have just one witness who suspects the real killer
Thanks in advance

Two eyewitnesses? I always assumed it was just one. Well... I guess I never looked around enough.

CFM, thanks for ur reply but I was not reffering to the number of suspects, but to the number of witnesses. So, I assumed till recently that I have always 3 eyewitnesses with 2 of them pointing against the real killer, but it appears that this is not true. So, how many witnesses could appear in a game (those who suspect a person)? As a note, I repeat that on a really really hard case, I had two witnesses (indicated by townies that they think who is the killer) that didn't suspect the real killer, so I assume it is not possible to have just 3 witnesses, given the fact that, as you said, "the guilty party will always have 2 eyewitnesses against him"
Hope that I clarrified my question
Thanks

You are correct in that you will have 2 eye witnesses pointing to the killer and 1 pointing to an innocent person. The problem is the townies. They may say, Joe thinks he knows who the murder is, but when you go ask Joe, he says he does not suspect anyone. At least one of the townies will have the wrong information, so you can not rely on what they say every time. You will find both people who suspect the guilty person by asking everyone on your list. (assuming they do not all clam up on you)

Thanks Arabella, it makes sense now.
But are you sure that all the time, at least one of the townies will give you a wrong information? And also this wrong information could be applied to the "Person X hasn't heard/seen anything suspicious" phrase (like if the townie says this to you but, in reality, person X emerges as an eyewitness)
I really want this thing to be clarrified in order to revise my tactics... :)

Well, there is one thing I have learned in Sleuth and that is to never be 100% sure on how any of it works. lol
But my best therory is that the has not seen/heard anything info is correct, but the knows who info can be wrong.
