I would like to rent a small office, but it doesn't have a crime lab. Could someone explain what a crime lab does. And what the case files are.

Really? I didn't know you could use the crime lab without the case being marked private. That is what I was always told. Hmmm..told wrong then obviously :) Good to know, thanks cfm! Unless u mean someone checking evidence with their contact hehe

All cases that are in files and have unidentified evidence would show in the lab. No matter if they are private or public.

I think I saw somewhere that status bonus suposed to boost your skills by the amount of bonus points. But, this was never proven and you cant see it with judge of character.

Like Reda says, anything in the lab can be analyzed, and a case doesn't have to be marked private for the evidence to show in the lab.

Though I don't really know how to prove it, it does seem that wearing smart gear when working in the lab improves your chances of success just as it does at the scene.
