Start doing faction cases. If a faction case says "Your standing with Order of Socrates will increase if you solve this case" etc (I don't know the exact words but it is along them lines).....solve it, and your standing will go up. If it says your standings will go down ,quit that particular case. Once you are fair with them, you can start doing "little jobs" for them that will increase your standings,as well. I don't know the exact number it is b4 you can start doing little jobs. 10 maybe? Someone more knowledgable on that will come along and tell you but those are the two ways you can increase the standings with a faction.

The faction cases are the ones with the Lady with the magnifying glass. If you get one that says the Order of Socrates wants this to go away, you need to quit the case or you will get minus one point with Socrates. Ones that will give you plus one, say something along the lines of The Order of Socrates will be happy ....

Once you get to +1, you can get into the door, and start doing little jobs. (they will raise you +4 a day, but when you get pretty good, it will start to fall back a point or two every night.

You need to be +10 in order to start a treasure hunt (only applies to folks in agencies) and +25 in order to learn their skill.

I think those are the only two ways to increase your standing. If you belong to an agency, folks will often swap you cases that help you switch factions.

Oh, yes, don't do any little jobs for any other factions (at least in a city where Socrates is active) since they will raise you with the faction you do the job for, but lower you with the other two factions in that city.
