I think our detectives should be able to purchase really cool cars to drive around in. It could be a charm bonus (see my personal car for example: http://www.my65cuda.net/my65cude/sweet_ride.html ), or it could be a toughness bonus (like driving around in a souped-up converted cop car)

Did anyone else not quite understand what james lee just said or am I just having a dumb moment?

It took me a walk to the kitchen and back to figure this one out (I always do this when I'm pondering).

But anyway, I think I get what he's saying. Just, it's more difficult to explain than you think. *laughs*

Let's break down the scenario:

1. You have various physical evidence (for convenience let's say: thread-Male, HandWriting-LH, footprint-Heavy)

2. You have 8 suspects, all Male, 4/8 Left-Handed, and 3/8 heavy.

What i THINK james is saying is that:

3. If you eliminate all your real alibied-people, and are left with say 3/8 suspects with FAKE alibis, and now you're left with matching the physical evidence with the suspect, you will score a higher rate of success trying to match the Thread belonging to Male Clothing, than if you tried matching the other physical evidence.

I'm not sure about this theory but sometimes if you have 3 questions for the same townsfolk, you run the risk of clamming him/her up.

What I do is, from all remaining evidence, see which one requires less questions being asked to the same townsfolk and begin elimination from there.

Eg:

Martin(fake alibi): Male, LH, Slim

Andrew(fake alibi): Male, LH, Heavy

Kelvin(fake alibi): Male, RH, Slim

If your contact is the tailor, by all means, ask away on the thread. But if you can't afford the townsfolk clamming, go with asking the Shoemaker abt ANdrew first, since he's the only heavy one left. Remember all alibis have been proven FAKE. If the Print matches ANdrew, you have your guy. If not, move on to the Banker, then the Tailor.

Of course, alternatively, you may jump straight to the TAilor, ask abt 2 of these suspects (assuming he answers the first question, then gets bribed for the 2nd question). If the answer is YES for either MArtin or Andrew, (HEY PRESTO!) case solved, you have your murderer! If the answers are NO for both MArtin and Andrew, (HEY PRESTO AGAIN!) you know that the murderer is Kelvin (since there are no other fake alibied suspects).

The only error in this logic:
The thread COULD belong to any of the other 5 male witnesses.

WEll, by George, you're right as ever!

SO, NEVER jump straight to the Tailor. Disregard the last paragraph of my previous entry. Never jump to the Tailor, follow and eliminate in sequence. If the Footprint or Handwriting DO NOT render any evidence against the 3 fakers, then you can jump to the Tailor and be sure that 1 of the 3 will be a match of physical evidence.

Thanks Vixen for pointing that out! *smiles*

No problem. :)

D.L. is most definately right. In my experience, one piece of physical evidence will always point to the killer. Of course, for this to work, you have to have ALL of the physcial evidence, so you need both thread and hair analysis.

And now I will adress the subject of this post. :)
Cars, or other new accessories, would be a fun addition to the game. Especially if they had an extra function.

yes.. Like Shipping you off to another part of town, where there are more contacts and townsfolk and suspects to talk to.

But i guess this will jst have to develop as the game goes along.

hmmm, how about i re-explain what i said, i.e.: if you find a thread from a males clothing, and the majority of suspects are male, than the thread has the highest possibility of showing you who the killer is

hm, being able to access a dif. part of town could be a skill (driving- perhaps smarts (or charm when an awesome car)) and a car would also be necessary for other parts of town... WOOH! I'm psyched.

sorry, didn't see your post, james. i forgot to go to the next page! anyhoo, it depends on how many threads you find. you get a thread from a male AND a thread from a female, and all but one of the suspects are male... it doesn't change the likelihood at all of showing who the killer is
