The sixth of seven books will be released this week.

Any speculations on who the Half-Blood Prince is?

I think it may be Draco Malfoy. He is from a 'pure' family, but JK Rowling does say on her site that "none of these families is really pure - in other words, they simply cross off Muggles and Squibs off the family tree and pretend that they didn't exist." Also, "This subject (pure-bloods not being fully pure) is touched upon in 'Half-Blood Prince.'"

I think it may be a clue from JK Rowling that the Half-Blood Prince is a "pure-blood."

On the other hand, we know little about Nearly Headless Nick except of his execution and that he was some form of royalty. I believe he may be the Half-Blood Prince too, as, he could fit the 'prince' part.

Perhaps Harry has to protect the half blood prince, while Voldemort has to kill him.

Interesting Idea. The Thing with Neville was that it was possible for Nevile to be the one that banished He who must not be named, as he fit all the prophesy's requirments-as did Harry. Execpt Voldemort marked Harry when he attacked him, therefore (probably, that is) Nevile is no longer in the equasion. But...

nope. no king, unless you count the chess kings, which I don't think are significant.

...I can't remember stuff either. I hope Draco doesn't end up important. I like him as an unimportant snot better.

I think confirmed that Neville was a bit out of the running. However... it doesn't mean he couldn't be the Half-Blood Prince. Now that would be interesting.

There are a lot of good theories, and the answer will be revealed at one minute past midnight tomorrow. Anyway, I posted all the spoilers in jojo227's other HBP thread. Recently, the back cover blurb for the book was released to the public, but I thought it would be better if I posted it in the Spoiler thread. It is very interesting . . . so if you would like to venture there today or tomorrow, please do. But the information I posted could ruin the fun of it all.

So far we have many theories on the Half-Blood Prince, and this is a list I made after reading all of your theories posted here:

-Draco Malfoy
-Nearly Headless Nick
-Sirius Black (dead, but still important)
-Dean Thomas
-Neville Longbottom
-Ron Weasley
-A new character

Anybody I forgot? Remember: J.K. Rowling said that neither Harry nor Voldemort was the Half-Blood Prince. If there are anymore half-blood males in the series I forgot to mention, please write them down. Quickly. The countdown to the release has already started ticking . . .

Remember Neville is a pure blood. The last book was pretty exact about that. Draco is suposed to be a pure blood, but the line is always not clear.

I think it would be intresting if Snape was the half-blood prince, but I can't recall whether or not they have stated he is pure blood.

I got an email today from the dutch amazon like company that will be delivering my book tomorrow morning.

It actually said. That if I wanted to have my book, I should stay home in the morning. As the book, was too thick to fit through the mail slot, as it is quite a read like the last 2 books. Otherwise, I would have to wait until monday afternoon to pick it up at the post office.

I have never received an email like this, about any book like this. I suppose, I would have found it a crying shame and tragedy if I had to wait until Monday. :)

I am going to ask the mail man, if I had many packages to same size today. I am not sure how many people read the English version, most read it in Dutch which comes out in November.
