The sixth of seven books will be released this week.

Any speculations on who the Half-Blood Prince is?

I think it may be Draco Malfoy. He is from a 'pure' family, but JK Rowling does say on her site that "none of these families is really pure - in other words, they simply cross off Muggles and Squibs off the family tree and pretend that they didn't exist." Also, "This subject (pure-bloods not being fully pure) is touched upon in 'Half-Blood Prince.'"

I think it may be a clue from JK Rowling that the Half-Blood Prince is a "pure-blood."

On the other hand, we know little about Nearly Headless Nick except of his execution and that he was some form of royalty. I believe he may be the Half-Blood Prince too, as, he could fit the 'prince' part.

Thoughts on who the Half-Blood Prince is?

Yes, another plea for no spoilers on the Sleuth message board about Half-Blood Prince...my book won't arrive until Monday and I won't be able to read it until the following weekend *hates her new job for that*

I agree.

All spoilers should be in their own thread with a spoiler warning in the name.

Jojo, as you are the one posting this thread, perhaps a day before the book comes out, start a thread that has in the title "spoiler warning." Then keep this thread for messages where there are no spoilers.

And this rule, should stay that way for at least 6 months or so. For the simple reason that some of us may read the book in a foreign language. Translations don't come out until 3 months after the release in English.

I will be avoiding threads most likely, out of safety. But when I am done, I'd like to ask everyones permission if it is OK to moderate if I do find a spoiler somewhere? Or someone who is overly annoying in dangling it in front of someones face.

I agree. I love theories, but I do not want to find a spoiler by accident. I think if you find a spoiler in a thread that is not marked spoiler, then you should remove it.

No spoilers. Definatly. Who would want to ruin a perfectly good book? Wait . . . what about clues? Like some hints about the content . . .? Or would they be considered spoilers, too?

Jstkdn, I will do so.

Jstkdn, I also think we may want to get permission to moderate spoilers if they are put where they should not be as it ruins a story and could cause disappointment.

Shanty, ANYTHING that hints to, gives away, or states anything unknown before reading HBP would probably be considered a spoiler.

There is now a thread for spoilers.

Please keep spoilers to that thread and only threads that have "(WARNING: SPOILERS)" in the title.

I think the safety is, anyone who has started to read the book, does not go back posting in this thread that does not have a spoiler warning.
