Those job things

Sorry I can't be more precise about the job things that I'm talking about, but they're the ones you do for the Cosa Nostra or the Dies Arcanum or the Order of Socrates. I have the best standing with La Cosa Nostra so I'll use them as an example. Sometimes the Don of La Cosa Nostra will send me to do little jobs where I get information for her. But when I get there I have to answer all these questions about books I've never read (Okay okay it's only three questions, but it's still tricky). Even if I've read one or two of the books, I don't ever stand any chance of answering the questions correctly. :(. Perhaps instead of the questions being about mystery books they could be some sort of puzzle or riddle or something? Maybe I'm just stupid? Anyhoo, thanks for reading.

You can make use of the Hall of REcords if you possess the Research Skill. THis can be purchased with your Skills Points through a link in your "Detective" Page.

The Research done at the Hall of Records may eliminate one of your suspects with a FAKE alibi, as the murderer. So.. you'll have 1 less suspect to question and accuse.

Some points to note abt Research:

1. Try not to go there until you have enough suspects (for that level of difficulty), otherwise your research skill runs the risk of turning up NOTHING.

2. The Research can only be done once for each case. So no matter how many times you go back to the Hall of Records, the results will still be the same as the first time.

3. You may wish to dress in SMarts gear before going to the HAll, though in all the cases I've done, this hasn't been a huge factor of reaping favorable results.

Hope this has answered your question. *smiles*

you dont have to dress SMART, to have research work, it works automatically, the only thing it requires though, is that you have that person on your list of suspects, and you can research how ever many times you want, but the results will be the same

here's a nifty research tip: go there before interviewing any new suspects - it saves asking them unnecessary alibi questions, if they're the ones who come up in your research...the amount of questions asked of a suspect really comes into play in the harder aspects of the game

What do you mean D.L. that "your research skill runs the risk of turning up NOTHING" ?
You can always go back there and ask again, there is no risk. You will get your result as soon as the appropriate suspect gets in your list.
In fact it is good to go to the hall of records as soon as possible, so that you can figure out an innocent person as soon as possible. If s/he's not yet in your list you can always go again later.

Ohh... Thanks kouraditsa and james. I never realised this.

I always thought that if you went there the first time and got "NOTHING" then that was the result no matter who else turns up as a suspect later.

Thanks for clarifying this! *smiles and waves to kouraditsa and james*

Chronestrian, I've done that before and the hall of records said that I didn't find any useful info..
