WE all can make a difference in world politics by supporting the Live 8 concerts. They are trying to get the big 8 countries to forgive Africa's debt. A child in Africa every 3 SECONDS. Please go to www.one.org and sign the petition. It won't cost you any money but you are needed to move the world towards cureing aids and helping the people of Africa. Please just sign your name and let our governments know we care!!

I would also ask anyone who cares about this issue to buy fairly traded goods. There is a company called Traidcraft in the UK and I am sure others elsewhere who sell coffee, chocolate, tea, fruit, cereal, handmade goods, etc from third world countries at a fair price and all the profit goes to the people who make or pick the goods. This is a really good way to help and I feel lots better knowing the person responsible for me enjoying the coffee or whatever is paid at a rate that means they can look after their families rather than slave wages. Wiping off the debt will only help for so long before another one builds. Like Jstkdn says, we need to do something about the corrupt leaders and we also need to give Africa and all the other third world countries the chance to trade on fair terms. Otherwise in twenty or so years time, we will all be signing the petitions again.

Results:

Poverty:
-8 billion increase in aid
-Debt of the 18 poorest countries in africa cancelled.

Considering that the G8 summits usually don't yield any agreement on anything. This is a great day, and world history has been made.

It would have been an even better day, if all countries voted for improving the issues on the environment. Kyoto is still only supported by 7 out of 8. Maybe in November the last one will go over the line....I hope. But I doubt it.
