My dog passed away last week, he was 13 yrs old and a very special part of my life and ofcourse my heart is broken that he is gone....and I've been looking for poems about losing a pet,in this case a dog...I want to find a poem as closely related to him as possible, because I want to put it in a frame with his picture on it for myself and my mom.
I found several but none really that fits 'Turbo'.....and I tried writing one myself but couldn't bring the words together, like I usually can...I usually end up crying so hard I cant think anyways...*sigh*...so if anyone has any, will you please put it here or if you would rather email it to me, I can also give my email address.

I know some might think that its silly but, my pets arent just animals to me, they are my family :)

Thanks everyone :)

and said Turbo died. My mom, who is on the phone with me, goes what??? ...Just couldnt believe it...noone was expecting that. My mom wanted an autopsy done...to know why he died so quick, and he had kidney and bladder cancer.
It is so hard to walk in my mom and dads back yard..and not see him there..or to have him come up and give me kisses. I feel guilty because I dont want him to think that I left hiim or that I ever forgot him. I hope he knew how much I loved him.
My mom is worried Laskey will die of a broken heart...he is 11 yrs old...and he just sits and looks at the gate, as if he is waiting for Turbo to return. He barely eats...so he is in his own mourning. Its a terrible loss...and he will never be forgotten. I always called him "My Main Man"....and he always will be :)
Sorry to have rambled on....just wanted to tell a lil about him...and that wasnt everything but its still something :)
I know he is happy now, and at peace..and romping with all the other furry animals, waiting for his masters time to arrive :) He made my life so happy! Now I go out where laskey is,and sit by him and love on him,and talk to him about his "brother"....I know he misses him too...you can see it in his eyes!
Ok....Im zipping it :)

Oh...and on their shed...My brother, who is a beautiful artist,is going to paint "Turbo" on one side of the shed door, and "Laskey" on the other door. It should look awesome when he is done! He isnt going to paint pictures of them..I meant he is going to paint the name Turbo and the name laskey in fancy letters. :)..and when I get a poem that suits Turbo...Im going to frame it with a picture of him underneath.

I am so sorry Makensie to hear about your loss. Losing a pet is so hard. It sounds like you have a lot of good memories of him. The idea of a poem and a picture is a good one I don't have any ideas or I would help.

OMG Makensie! I lost my dog of nearly 13 years a year and a half ago... he had cancer, and when my mom picked me up from school, her nose was red, and you could tell she had been crying...she told me, and I flipped out... now, we have a new little Bullmastiff puppy running around the house... here are two thoughts... now many people think getting a new pet means forgetting the old...but it doesn't. It just means that it was so awesome with them that you just wish to honor him, with a canine friend to bring back the good memories...the second thought is a poem

To a Special Friend Named Turbo

With the sun shining down on the day we brought you home, we saw a raggedy vision. But in his heart we saw a beauty unequalled still. And like Pygmalion (spelling?), he was transformed. For life the sun shone down on golden fur, on loving eyes, on charming face. It resembled him, resembled love. And in our love for him, a steady connection grew from him to us... speedy legs carry him for eternity to reunite him to the sun that still warms him...and on days both sunny and rainy, his love with come down upon you, and those who he still loves. And remember, one day you and him will meet on the path to the sun, and you will live and love in that sun. Remember the fun times, live for new moments, and never forget. See every ending, is just a new beginning.

See M.B., it's not about letting go...it's about remembering, and ceaselessly loving. When you do choose one of the poems, do inform us.

Madam, that poem was just beautiful and uplifting. A few of you here sent me links to read poems on loss of a pet...and as much as it makes me sad to read,it also makes me feel good at the same time. I appreciate all the help and care you all have shown :)

My mom is thinking of getting another dog, especially for our other dog laskey, who is in his own depression from losing Turbo. He won't eat any more than the canned food he is given in morning (looks like he is losing weight),he wont eat his dry food, and he wont eat his bone that he loved to do when Turbo was here. He just sits and looks at the gate, hoping for his buddy to walk through them doors. Its sad..he is very lonely. We spend as much time with him as we can,but I just dont think anything will do, because we arent Turbo. So my mom MIGHT get him a lil buddy to help keep his mind busy..and maybe it will brighten him up. Laskey is another beautiful dog, inside and out....he is a monster but the most gentle dog you would ever want to meet. He adores kids :) We should've named him "Gentle Ben" heehee

I will let you guys know when a poem is chosen..I'm also going to save this one that you put here. It is very nice!

Thank u :)

Makensie, at any rate, I recommend the Bullmastiff breed. They are calm, loving gentle, and are great with other dogs.

They are nice dogs....I think my mom wants to get a collie or a Lab....IF she gets one at all. Still not ready to get one yet. Someday maybe :)
