I was doing a favour for the shoemaker, and his only suspect gave me an alibi, and then clammed up. What a jerk. I was about to quit the case, when I decided to try plan b. I checked his alibi, it was false, so I accused him. Lo and behold, he did it. Huzzah, the grey umbrella is now mine!
Just thought I'd share my little victory.
(And yes, I know I should ask the motive question first.Whoops)

So that's as a "yes" - the townsperson gives you the motive for the first person in favour cases ;)

Yes, Greyling, the person asking you to do the favour give you the motive of the first suspect.
