OK ... as there are so many readers and writers here, we'll see if this is popular ...

I'll post a list of dictionary definitions and see if you can provide the word. I'll try to balance between making it too hard and making it interesting. I'll try and make it so that, even if you don't one right, you'll at least have heard the word before. For each quiz, all answers will begin with the same letter:

Aww, Marcus! I love words. One of my favourite books to read (and, I know, this is going to make me sound very sad!) is the dictionary. I really enjoy examining the subtle difference between synonymous words and tracing the etymology of words to their roots.

Well done Markie ... you nabbed the final three.

Hmmm ... with the likes of Markie P and John Hale around, I'm going to have to make these harder!

5/6 Markie, though in truth you've picked a near perfect synonym for the one that's different. It was elucidate, as you correctly guessed, that I was looking for on no. 4.

Any takers on 3? It's a somewhat more formal word that effectual.

Well, thanks for not being too hard on me. :)

I can spell, I can punctuate (when I'm not completely overwhelmed by emotion), but parts of speech, diagramming, labeling, etc...HA!
