Speaking seriously for a second, England have the second best team in the world behind the Australians and with our new improved pace attack (Which not so long ago contained the number one bowler in the world) and the batting of Vaughn, Trescothick, Flintoff, and Strauss we should make it a close series. May the best team win.

hehe Lady Grey! I'm not particularly well versed in the ways of 'sports' but as a self-proclaimed Englishman! I take pride in anything that we have a chance in succeeding in! Considering that....

Good comment's everyone.....Being from texas I've only been exposed to the more traditional games we play here, such as baseball, american style football and basketball...when I was growing up soccer was not as popular as it is today....I really wish I understood the game more. And I for sure don't understand the first thing about cricket.Maybe you could explain a little bit about the rules and overall objective of the game...Question:Is cricket where they have a stick with a net on the end and they try to throw the ball into the net....Forgive me for being uneducated about your sport's. I really would like to have a better understanding of the different type of sport's that are played......

Since I'm married to you Texan, of course you know I love basketball. I played on the, "A-String", as guard three years in high school. One thing about it, it kept me in shape..ha! I don't think I could dribble the ball full court without passing out now, cause this grannie is really out of shape now. The only dribbling I do now, is from my mouth...hehe. I've enjoyed watching the Houston Rockets with Texan, because of the championships they won 2 yrs in a roll, & Comments who won 3 yrs. Since then seems both teams have gone down hill, until this year. I know this, my baby loves watching sports, & he's a sport's addict. If we didn't have three televisions, I'd never get to see my shows..hehe! He takes the remote and flips through the channels so fast, and watches three shows at one time, and I get so mixed-up I don't know whose doing what, so I just watch my own TV, during sport's events. OK, to wrap this up I love figure skating, as well as any type of water sport's. I'm a certified national scuba diver, though I've not done much these past few years due to health. Well, Texan didn't mean for me to get into what sports I do, so I'll shush. Oh, by the way, after he left the computer, I got on to check his thread out to put my two cents worth in, but I know he won't mind. After all, it's not fair I do all the blabbing, hehe.

Oh yeah, I know this isn't a real sport's event, but does anyone watch "MXM"? It's a chinese game where they do all types of weird things. It's so funny.

I love cricket! Here's a classic explanation of cricket, which only makes sense to cricket fans:

Cricket as Explained to a Foreigner:
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

Ok, more serious, here's an explanation of cricket for baseball players:

And an explanation for everyone else:

Personally I support the Sri Lankan cricket team. I suppose I have a patriotic duty to support the Swedish ice hockey team as well.

(Texas, I believe the game you're thinking of is lacrosse?)

Lol, Blueberry - that always cracks me up:)

As an aside I wish the best of luck to Preston North End today as attempt to claw their way into the Premiership for a season of humiliation and degradation at the hands of the big boys.

Just kidding. Come on you Lilywhites:)
