Did you know that . . . . ? I am posting facts about religious people and saints. Why don't you? Share some. This could be a great discussion on popes, nuns, saints etc.

I haven't been on the boards for a while and just read through this whole thread b/c I found it fascinating. There are a lot of differing & interesting views. I love that they can be discussed without anger as sometimes happens with religous topics.
I am a christian & have met many people of differing faiths, some of the most sincere are in faiths other than mine. I am glad that God can see our hearts and knows us no matter what church we belong to.
My favorite book in the Bible would have to be the book of Hebrews. I always find something new and inspiring when I read it. What is your favorite area if you have one? Just curious.

It's been a while since I read the Bible, but the books that stand out to me are:

1) Genesis - It has the best start in literate history ... 'In the beginning..'!
2) Exodus - Full of plagues, smiting and so forth!
3) Esther - Enough intrigue and subversive plotting to satisfy any sleuth.
4) Nehemiah - A great story about courage in the face of adversity.
5) James - To me, rather than being entertaining, this is a book that in a few short chapters contains some profound wisdom.

I love Proverbs & Psalms, and of course all scriptures in general. The only boring parts is the "who begat who"...lol.

I agree DaRu! Blaise Joshua I will have to reread James I don't remember it well enough, but your statement makes me want to take another look.

Did you know that there is one chapter of Proverbs for everyday of the month? I read them that way a few times finding different ones that spoke to me each month. Kind of interesting. :)

Cool. James would probably bemy favorite. Its true he has got a lot of wisdom. And he didn't learn it early, James-the brother of Jesus through Mary and Joseph- was not converted until after the Resurection. James 1:5 is one of the staples of the LDS faith.
And your exactly right about the Hollywood worthy plots in the scriptures Llolly. (Although we probably couldn't go and see them because of the rating :)
I actually just finished writing a piece of music called "Lamoni." Its taken from The Book of Mormon, The Book of Alma. It will be premiered at Bard College New York in July.

I play the piano and the drums. Composition is probably one of my strongest attributes as a musician. My playing standard really isn't anything special - I'm a very untechnical player. I can't read music and my knowledge of musical theory is sparse at best. I can play by ear, though, and find it quite easy to transfer melodies in my head onto the piano.
