Did you know that . . . . ? I am posting facts about religious people and saints. Why don't you? Share some. This could be a great discussion on popes, nuns, saints etc.

But I have been posessed since the age of 13. You might want to consider that.

Here's my comment, and please no hate mail...hehe. Well, according to the bible, "King James Version", it says that no man sees eye to eye, and in another scripture, we should all work out our soul salvation with fear and trembling. It also states we're not to argue the scriptures. Discussing them is one thing, but to argue is not pleasing to God. Now, if we're born again, & have PEACE in our hearts, why open ourselves up to anything that would take away that peace or cause confusion. At II Tim, 2:15, it says to study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, but rightly divides the word of truth...and so on. Alot of religions or faiths believe they'll be the only ones to make Heaven, and all others excluded. I feel that people from every religion will make it, as along as they've a pure heart before God. There's a saying that I've heard which says: "It doesn't matter what name tag you wear, because that name tag is either going to blow off going up, or burn off going down. OK, with that said...I hope you all still love me. Bye for now.

PS: What I stated above was just a little food for thought, & actually got off the subject quite a bit, so sorry about that. Though I'm not Catholic, I respect the faith and find the subject interesting.

Daniella, yes, I do believe in fasting. In my life time I have fasted many times. Sometimes for as long as one meal, and up to a maxium of 20 days. I've always tried to fast when I felt impressed of the Lord to do so. It is very dangerous to fast long periods of time without feeling led of the Lord. I've always tried to be obedient when I felt the need to fast. I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say moral dieting and starvation. But, I do believe that we live in a world that is diet crazy and yes, people literally starve themselves for the sole purpose of quote, "looking good".

For a very cynical view read Spike Milligans version of the Old Testament. He has a humourous way of pointing out the more inconsistant points in the old testament.

Thats neat you also read The Book of Mormon, Blaise Joshua. I think it really helps/clarifies the teachings that the zillion religions have taken a zillion ways.

I was wondering: Who translated the Jehovah Witness's Bible?

P.Rockwell: I can't really claim to actively read The Book of Mormon. About four years, two LDS Sisters called at my house and conducted me through their lessons, and after they moved away two Elders continued to call. I have a Book of Mormon as well as some other LDS literature. I read the tagged sections that the Sisters asked me to read, but I haven't really gone over it since then.

Regarding the JW's Bible, my copy says it was translated by the New World Translation Committee.

Actually, while we're on the topic of Bibles, and as there are some avid readers here, I'd like to recommend the Bible as a cracking read! No, no, I'm serious : o ) Some years ago, I read a book that discussed some of the greatest works of literature in the English language, and I made myself a goal of reading every one it detailed. So, starting at Genesis, I began reading the Bible and it's just brilliant. OK, some book are really boring (Numbers and Lamentations spring to mind), but other like Genesis, Exodus and Esther and actually (yes, it's true!) quite exciting : o )

Or get a Bible guide. That's what I did, it goes through the whole lot in modern terms, and tells you which bits of the Bible to read to get the picture. It really brings it to life! There are some Hollywood worthy stories in there, it's just hard to find them sometimes through the language and the culture of the time.

I haven't been on the boards for a while and just read through this whole thread b/c I found it fascinating. There are a lot of differing & interesting views. I love that they can be discussed without anger as sometimes happens with religous topics.
I am a christian & have met many people of differing faiths, some of the most sincere are in faiths other than mine. I am glad that God can see our hearts and knows us no matter what church we belong to.
My favorite book in the Bible would have to be the book of Hebrews. I always find something new and inspiring when I read it. What is your favorite area if you have one? Just curious.
