Some of us have interesting reasons to pick a detective name. What is yours?

jstkdn which some people don't realize right away stands for JuST KiDding! It is something I tend to say a lot in real life after a lot of sentences. A good friend of mine in the US had jstkdn as a license plate of her car, so I wasn't that inventive myself.

My previous other agent was PM, which stands for Project/Program Manager, my profession in real life.

My only detective that I currently play with is freelancermountaineer. Only because Freelancer was taken. Sidney Bristow in the Alias series uses two call signs freelancer and mountaineer.

Well, Serges is a name I have been using for online handles, RPG characters, and as a pen name for about 12 years now. It's just my "other" name, so to speak.

Originally it came from a character in a book named Sergei Rovjenko. I used it in my first pen-and-paper RPG, and my fellow gamers would just call me "Serge" for short. My second RPG characted then got named "Serge". I transferred it as a multi-player game handle, but one game wouldn't take a name shorter than 6 characters, so I added the S to make Serges. And I really liked it, and it's stuck in my mind ever since.

By the way, one of my pet peeves is when people abbreviate it to "Serge" now... :)

I chose my name, because I wanted one that was unique, realistic, but not a boring one. I hope I was right :)
