Some of us have interesting reasons to pick a detective name. What is yours?

jstkdn which some people don't realize right away stands for JuST KiDding! It is something I tend to say a lot in real life after a lot of sentences. A good friend of mine in the US had jstkdn as a license plate of her car, so I wasn't that inventive myself.

My previous other agent was PM, which stands for Project/Program Manager, my profession in real life.

My only detective that I currently play with is freelancermountaineer. Only because Freelancer was taken. Sidney Bristow in the Alias series uses two call signs freelancer and mountaineer.

I chose the picture I wanted first, then thought about who this chap might be - and then chose a name I thought suited the character!

Apart from being British, he has no similarities to me in RL whatever - as my agency colleagues will no doubt tell you with some amusement :-)

Ruth Callderford is kind of odd, I know. I like the name 'Ruth' and I just blended the words 'call' 'DERmont' and 'Ford.' I like to CALL my friends, my friends' last name is DERmont, and my favorite car name is 'FORD.' There. Ruth Callderford. Pretty strange, isn't it? LOL :)

Not as weird as me. I named myself after my favourite blend of tea.

I am a writer by profession and John Hale is the name of my detective character. My real name's Michael Bagen (I know this isn't news to most of you). Btw, my ugly mug is up at www.geocities.com/m_bagen. You can also download a story with the real John Hale from there.

I may be saying something completely strange here. But when I first visited your website a few weeks ago, and saw your pic....the firsth thing I thought was "He looks like Franz Kafka."

I had to read his books for German class, and the picture on the back of the covers, looks like you.

You're so great with new ideas, so hats off to you my friend. Oh by the way, forgive the messed up hair. Anyway, it's a wig...hehe. Just to let everyone know...I'm a natural blonde..lol. Well, the reason for DaRu, is simple. While I was attending Vo-Teach (Secretarial School), I formed a country/rock band called, "DaRu & Company". We performed for the school's functions, and so forth. I was the lead singer, so that's why I called it by my nickname DaRu, and the rest of the band members went by Company. Since then I've used it for various reasons, and it's always been my nickname. OK, that's all folks!

A few years ago, I had a very vivid dream. Now I normally don't remember my dreams, but this one stays with me to this day.

In the dream, I was an Irish girl from a very poor family. they wanted a better life for me and sent me to North America during the potato famines. Aboard the ship, I met an Irish boy who was also coming here with his family. Since i was alone, his family took me in when we got to North America and eventually I ended up marrying the son.
In my dream, his name was Connor O'Toole

My first detective was Garrett Magnum. "Garrett" is a detective from a series of humourous, light hearted, half fantasy/half mystery books by Glen Cook. I highly recommend the books. New one just came out. "Magnum" of course, is from Magnum P.I.
Both names were taken, so I combined them.

Jupitor Jones was my second detective. He passed away tragically in a case by accusing Ming Li instead of Ming Ling. LOL Anyway, Jupitor Jones and the Three Investigators. Alfred Hitchcock presents. Great kids books.

Morley Dotes is the best friend of "Garrett" in the books by Glen Cook.

Calico Jack is my other subscribed detective. Calico Jack was a real pirate. A pretty bad one actually, but there is a song called Calico Jack by a band called Running Wild. When I subscribed a second detective, I had the mp3 of Calico Jack playing at the time so I just took the name.
