Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Jojo (the female one, not ours), Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion and Cindy Lauper would top my list. There are others, but I personally would like to see these six strapped to chairs and forced to listen to Diana Ross and Tina Turner records until they either learn their trade or die of DOD (Diva OverDose).

Tie between Mariah Carrie and Whitney Houston...both sound like a cat with its tail caught under a rocking chair
Also can't handle Celine or Shanai Twain...if she feels like a woman that badly she should go get herself one and shut up about it

Geri "Ginger Spice" Harriwell and Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham are truly apalling. I'm tone deaf and even I can hear the flat notes. Javine (The UK entry into the Eurovision song contest) has to come close though. Alongside Michelle Macmanus (Another pop idol wanabee)

John Hale....you are showing your age!!!! :) I haven't heard the names Tiffany and Debbie Gibson since the 80s.
Why is it that Celine, Mariah, and Whitney have been around for decades. Like the weeds in my yard.

Because like greenfly they are resistant to most known pesticides available to the domestic user.
Incidentally, whats wrong with Tiffany?

What ever became of them anyway?
Did they OD on drugs, suffer from anorexia, or start their own talk show?
I admit I listened to them too as a teen, and did not find them annoying then. For the life of me I can not remember what song Debbie was famous for (this is probably a good thing.)
Another person that I loved as a teen was Kylie Minogue, with that whole locomotion song. When she was still the girl next door.

I just couldn't help but doing the research:
Debbie Gibson:
Starting in the early 1990's, Debbie Gibson pursued an acting career and even appeared on Beverly Hills 90210 in 1991. She also appeared in lead roles in Broadway musicals Les Miserables and Grease.
She released an album in 1993, Body In Soul, which featured a more adult-contemporary sound.
In 1995, she released Think With Your Heart, an album featuring a 44-piece orchestra and also a cameo on an album by punk legends the Circle Jerks.
Currently, Debbie Gibson is still very much active in Broadway performances. Her recent performances include leading roles in Beauty and the Beast and
Gypsy. She also continues to release occassional albums on her own label, Espiritu Records.
