So ... just to clarify ...

There is one special job per day, rather than per number of cases.

Is that correct?

yeah - its only one little job per day. Even if you're have a good standing with more than one faction, you can still only to one little job a day, you cant do one for both factions!

The Special Job yields +2 influence with the faction that gave you the job, and -1 with the other 2 factions in that particular city(IMO only, unable to travel to other cities).

It yields -1 with the faction that assigned you if you fail the task, you need 2 out of 3 to succeed, and you've to have some knowledge about mystery stories.

I thought the little jobs gave you four points?

yeah, its definitely +4 points for completing the little jobs.
Your standing with the faction decreases each day too, so you have to keep doing little jobs daily to stay 'good' with them. Not sure how fast it'll fall though.

It depends on your standing. I think it's your standing divided by ten, so if you're under 10 you lose nothing, 10-19 lose one point a day, 20-29 lose 2 points, 30-39 lose 3 points and 40-45 lose four. I've never seen anyone higher than 45, so that's why I put that down instead of 49.

i think i saw someone with 46 points, couldnt say for sure though. Think you're right about the rate of losing points. It makes improving your standing more difficult, the higher it gets!

Above about 45, you lose 6 points. (Not sure where the cutover is, but have seen it happen several times.)
