The status bonus is part of the Agency Housing Descriptions.

It never occurred to me to wonder what the status bonus does! But I have just added mine up too and it tallies with my kit without a bonus, and we're supposd to have +3.
I'll take your word for it though - I can't say I have much of a problem with clamming! :)
