I checked for you Ace. I will actually copy and paste my findings...quite interesting. Lets run to the store and get some root beer. :)

Sarsparilla:
In North America it used to flavor root beer and even named a beverage toward the end of the last century. Farther south, however, it has been used for hundreds of years as a tonic and to treat various sexual maladies. The former may be explained by an infection-fighting phytohormone (plant-based hormone) that resembles cortisone. The latter, of course, is what we're interested in here.
Sarsparilla contains phytosterols, which are used by the body to create testosterone and progesterone. These hormones control agression and sex drive in both genders, so it is quite possible that medicine has vindicated the ancient use of sarsparilla to combat impotence and frigidity.

Mmmmm very interesting jstkdn!!! I must stock up. Funny thing is the word 'root' is used in OZ as slang for the very thing you're eluding to young lady. I'd also like to add that I'm a huge advocate of phytosterol production.

It is soda, the pop was from the sound when opening the bottles. Pop tends to be term used by older generations like the guy on my avatar. What about Colorado koolaid??Anyone know that one other than Johnnie Paycheck???

*a little annoyed that gumshoe is being over run she decides to post answers in places she'd normally steer clear of.....*

Okay. It's supposed to be "pop" around here, but ever since people found us and have started invading our quiet little city, trying to turn it into a large city and keep the small town feel, it has turned into "soda". My mom owns a small store and you used to be able to tell who was born and raised here and who is a trasplant by which term they chose to use, now the "soda" term is being picked up by the locals as well. So... *sigh* just another price of progress....
