I'm from NC, and we "rednecks" refer to it as soda or soft drink. We don't tend to use our imagination and just read the name right off the bottle.

Another Ohioan here, (is Ohioan even a word? If it is, it should be banned. It just doesn't look right!)and "pop" it is! I know in New England states it's called soda. I also have been asked if I want a "cola" to drink, but don't remember where. Probably West Virginia, where most of my family is from, but I can't place it.

JSTKDN - I'm probably wrong about this, but I'm thinking Sweet Tea might be a southern thing. They love sugar in tea down there! I personally like tea unsweetened with lemon. Yum! Maybe it's just a preference thing with no bearing on where your located. Hopefully, someone will correct me about it!

Sweet tea is very prominent in Alabama...I LOVE it! I make sweet tea but for some reason it just isnt the same as down there. That's all I drink when Im down there. :) I also wish we had a Taco Casa. Ive only seen it in Alabama. Its like Taco Bell..only 110% better! Sorry, that part off topic :)

I think its so interesting to hear how people say things where they are from. :)

Morley, yes it is a southern thing. They kept correcting me when I kept asking for Iced Tea with sugar.

Also sometimes automatically I ask for a "Coca cola light" when I am in the US, instead of a "Diet coke." In europe we call it Coca Cola light, the can says so too.

Not all Europe, Jstkdn! In Britain it's Diet Coke, though it's anathema for most Brits to refer to themselves as European at all : o )

I actually considered that. But then I figured, the english always say that they are not in Europe, so I am just going with their flow. :) :)

Oh oh oh, good luck on the elections today!!!

Yes jstkdn sweet tea although sourthern style sweet tea is tooooo sweet. I like just a little sugar not a lot like they serve in the south. In southeastern West Virginia it is pop.

Yeah, I'd love to sea something like Sweet Coffee! Like a iced coffee, but super sweet AND caffinated.

I am getting a brain buzz just fantasizing about it. :)
