I never picked the research skill when I set up my detective, it has not come up again. How do I get it? and how many skill points dose it cost?

Since you are a very tough detective, the research skill will cost you the full price of 13 skill points. You can find the list of prices by clicking the small "help" link on the bottom right corner of the skill purchase page.
If you click on your skill points from the detective page to purchase new skills, only the ones you have enough points for will be listed. So, if you have less than 13 points currently, it will not be there.

Research costs 12 or 13 skill points (I think). When you get the skill points needed , on your detective page, click on your skill point number, and a list of skills that you are able to get show up...Research can be found there.
