I've been watching and following "American Idol" on Fox network and it's down to nine contestants, one of which is "Carrie Underwood", who has perfect pitch, a crystal clear voice, & by far is the best singer of all. However, the following three contestants are great too, Bo Bice and Anware, and Constatine. By the way Carrie Underwood is from Oklahoma, which is where I was born and raised, so it would be special if she won. I hope it's OK to post this thread and have a discussion as to whom we all like. On by the way, it airs again, next Tuesday night at 7pm. Go Carrie Underwood.

But you do have to admit, that Carrie does generally bring the goods, and that Bo does sometimes not do as good a job as she does.. I really do not have an opinion on which one will win, but I did have to console my friend about the person who got kicked off tonight.. I told her that they made it to the top four, and was thus pretty much ensured a future career in the music industry, no matter how long or short it might be..

So true. In fact, it seems when it gets down to twelve contestants, they are all assured a singing career in the music industry. Each one voted off gets to make guest appearances on different television networks. The twleve contestants makes an album together as they tour and promote their recording. Then each of them signs with a major music company and continues promoting their solo albums. None of them should feel sad, because they've got it made at this point. I mean how many contestants did they beat out initially? Does anyone know the approximate amount that tried out? I'm not sure, but isn't it in the thousands?

I have no idea, to be quite honest.. but I can say that it has to be torture to have to sit in that room and listen to people for hours upon hours. I actually sort of pity the judges.

I used to follow American Idol, but I've only seen one episode of the current series. Everyone was singing RnB and it's one of my least favourite song styles: I find it impossible to tell if people are off-key, or if they mean to sing that way.

Of course, it's the border-line and early singers that give me that problem.

lol, I hear you on that Naners. I couldn't take it either. Also, Awling, are you talking about this years contest? Anyway, each week the contestants sings a different style of song. One week it might be RnB, Country, Blues, or whatever. Then there's times they can make their own selection. That's why I try to watch each week because it's always different styles and shows what they can or can't sing..lol. My spouse said he saw where it's thousands all over America that tries out, so I'm with you Naners on the torture part of having to sit and listen to all these want-to-be's. However, I think it's the most entertaining part of it all...lol.

It was this years contest and everyone sounded the same so it put me off. I mean, in previous years they had themes, but everyone still sounded pretty different.

I just assumed that they'd picked a crop of RnBers for this year and so lost interest.

It wasn't just the songs they sang, they put the whole wibbly bit into each of them - well, I might have missed the start.

Awling, what I've noticed about this years final contestants is they are not as great of singers as the final contestants have been in the past two years. I told my spouse that I wasn't that happy with the final 20 selection this year. Apprently the judges overlooked great talent or this was the pick of the litter..lol. As far as themes, they've sung differnent themes asked of them this year as well, but overall, I don't like their group performances or songs sung as a group. It seems they don't blend well together. At least when it was as many as 8 contestants singing together on the show. However, Tuesday night I enjoyed the four of them as a quartet singing the slow song "Islands in the Stream", by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. I like this song anyway, but they done a fantastic job together. Well, it's fixing to storm here and ligthening out, so I'm signing off now. I really our sleuth's idol chatting here...lol. ta ta ya'll.

Maybe all the good singers have started avoiding the contest, or have found other avenues into music?

Perhaps the truly exceptional have already been caught up in the dragnet.

Could be some are too shy to sing in front of crowds, or some don't care about being famous and all that goes with it. I just can't wait to see who the final two will be.

Just watched American Idol, & really enjoyed the show. As usual Bo done an excellent job singing all three songs. Vonzella's first song was pitchy, but her last two were great. Carrie's three songs were excellent; however, she lacks in personalitly on stage. I kept finding myself getting tense while she sang; I guess because I was hoping she'd put more into it, like Bo and Vonzella does. I figure Vonzella will be voted off next, because of her first song, but one never knows for sure. I can't wait to view the next two weeks performances. Hats off to American Idol.....YEAH!!!!!!
