I am thinking of trying out a more difficult level. However, I am chary of attempting this. Does anyone know of an estimation of the number of experience point/days one should have before attempting the "hard" level?

You can always try one and then move back a level.

And luck! If you fail a few times in a row, maybe try a lesser level. :)
You will need good skills (smarts for crime scene plus charming or tough to get answers)
Remember to quit the case. Don't guess it gets expensive.
And learn how the game works.
Have fun!

Quit a case, rather then falsely accusing though.

A rough estimate - look at the level of cases that are available to you. (the more experience, the more 'open up'). Our suggested rule is that you start at the middle level. (Example: if you are allowed to play up to Really Really Hard -5 levels, you would pick the third level which is Hard). If that's pretty easy for you, then move up. But the better your skill set, the higher levels you can play for any given experience level. And follow the wise ones - quit rather than FA, and and if you have to quit several, drop back a level til your skills catch up.
