If your client is guilty, you still get the money.

With your experience, I would advise you to get tough OR charming skills (build one of those up, not both.) Once you get some basics in place, get a few smart skills, research and lock picking. Focus on the skills that you get via factions later.

Is it just me, but I would not advise anyone to take a Very Smart arch type, or Tough and Charming?

To me the best choices are: smart and tough/charming, or very tough, or very charming.

But that is just me. Please someone disagree with me?

I would agree that in the begining the arch types that get people to talk are best

But unfortunately, folks have chosen their arch types by the time they can read this - unless they start another detective.

Best bet, I find is to have basic tough/charm skills for interrogation, then the basic smarts skills (the ones that let you spot evidence). If you don't see it, after all, you can't get it matched.

In long, do get the better ones first which should include basic thread, basic hair, research, sweettalking, intermediate sweettalking advanced sweet talking, rule bending, advanced rule bending, lockpicking, footprint analysis, handwriting analysis, advanced thread, advanced hair and flirting - THEN you can think about picking up the faction skills. They are fluff - NICE fluff, but way down on my priority list. (substitute interrogation and intimidation for sweet talking and rule bending if you want to play tough - don't invest in both charm & tough, though.)
