I solved a case but did not recieve any skill points. However, my standing with La Costra Nostra improved and my standing with The Order Of Socrates decreased. Anyway, why didn't I get at least one skill point?

Monkey Girl - you earn skill points on a sliding scale (so use them wisely - they will progressively more slowly from now on).

The more experience you have, the more experience it takes to get the next skill point. At the higher level, they are right in there with hen's teeth.

Be very selective with the skills you choose from now on as stated by bigdoc. To help I try to accululate a lot of skill ponts and then select what I want according to my archetype but I'm still new so I'm sure that more experienced detectives will probably have better advice to offer. My experience has been to just ask experienced Detectives, so far my findings have been that everyone I've asked has been more than happy to help and really nice to talk to :)
