Dropping a contact?

If you get a contact and it's someone who you don't think will be very helpful, is it possible to drop them and try to pick up another?

Also, is one information contact any better than another? I just got the priest, is he better to have than say...the waitress? Or would she be a better contact?

If I have the tailor for a PE contact can I forego getting the thread analysis skill? I've never found a thread, I always find bloody footprints and notes. Should I aim for getting the shoemaker or banker as a PE contact based on what PE I always find?

Thanks, I'm getting basic hair and thread next. I just finlly got all the toughness skills except pick pocketing and..break a kneecap or something? (Sorry, I don't recall exactly what it is at the moment)

I'm working on my smarts skills next, they look like they would be more useful than *shudders* flirting and sweet talking LOL

Basic hair and thread are very important, with out them you wont find any. I used to think I didnt need the adv. thread cause I have the tailor as contact, this changed now cause when u start traveling you get new contacts in every city.
At higher levels having all samrt skills will help you a lot!

Right. Its best to go all tough with smart or all charm and smart. At the begining, your cases will be very dificult if you go charming and tough before you go for smarts.

Peter,
Don't forget that having the Barber as a contact in say, New York won't help you in say, Delhi, where you may need hair analysis.

I have the banker as a contact in New York and never bothered to advance my handwriting skills (because i didn't need it), so with the expansion, now I find myself with all these notes and having to actually think who it might be, before asking the PE contact for handwriting in whichever place I'm in.

I'm so used to just going to the bank and running down down the list, but that doesn't work now
