You pay through "PayPal" a very secure site (used on ebay etc) has a good reputation!
Also as long as there is a padlock on the bottom of your screen it means the site is secure (no-one else can get any info about you!)
I subscribed without ANY problem as have 100's of others!!
PayPal acts as a "go-between" meaning whenever you pay someone using it that person NEVER gets any of your account details! You have nothing to worry about as long as you use a reputable agent (PAyPal). Just remember NEVER give your account details in an email, or reply to any site that asks for them in this form, always use a SECURE SITE to pay (padlock in corner)

Paypal is secure. You can also send the sleuth admin cash (you find the sleuth admin in "Game Info" city hall.) If you live in the US, you can also send a check, I think.

another thing about security: certain browsers don't show the padlock, but the web address should be https instead of http.

is there any way to achieve subscribed status without paying - I love this game but I dont have a credit card and probably couldn't afford it anyway -- anyway I can work it off ?

You can by writing a featured mystery BUT i wouldn't suggest it as it takes a long time and is very complicated, look on city hall for advice

Constantine, have you looked at the rates? They are VERY reasonable.

You can also send a cheque or money order. The rates are very affordable.

I have heard a few complaints about Paypal, so I should say that it is less than completely reliable. Enter the words "Paypal" and "problems" into google and you'll see what I mean.

Check or money order is still your best bet.
