I'm going to start an agency. I already have enough money to purchase headquarters (something like a reposessed speak easy), and I'm going to do just that by the end of the week in any case. (If a few wealthy people show interest, though, we might even be able to go for a place with a crime lab.)

If you are interested in getting into this together with me, now is your chance to chip in and become a director. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship :P

Interested? If you want to be a director, I'm looking for experienced detectives or up-and-coming talents, but not absolute beginners. (Once the agency is up and running, I don't see the harm in welcoming newbies as members, though.)

P.S. If you can think of a good name for the agency, I'll let you in with a considerable discount... I'm stuck :D

Fat Kitten sounds good to me!
Maybe a better name for a pub.
:-)

Hahaha :D Hmm... Don't know if that's the style I'd make my first choice, but I guess it could sort of grow on you.

"The Fat Kitten Agency" - hmm, hmm. At least it would attract attention. I'm actually liking it more, the more I think about it :) But I guess that's something that can be decided a bit later.

Seriously, though, Chuck - I would LOVE to become co-directors in an agency, if you're interested. You're one skilled detective! I'm sure you'd be able to solve some cases I get stuck on. Plus, you've got smarts, and I've got charm, which is a good combination.

Do you think we could reach an agreement? Do you have any views on anything to do with starting an agency?

Ok. There's interest. I'm pleased : ) I also like your name suggestion, madddog. A slightly more sophisticated angle than Fat Kitten...I guess we'd have to have a vote.

I'm wondering - would we be able to afford somewhere with a crime lab? How much would all of you be able to invest? (I alone have about $9000, so I think it could be possible. I'd strongly prefer a large office to a warehouse, though. Just for style... So we'd need $18000 altogether.)

And a thought: if we don't have that reason for multiple directors, I'm feeling sort of uncertain about making everyone a director straight away. It feels like a larger risk - we don't know each other, what if there's internal conflict?

That's why I want to ask: would you be interested in joining this agency after it was established? I/we wouldn't charge you to join, so less risk for you (you can leave later and lose nothing) AND less risk for the agency (I'm picturing a worst-case scenario where we'd REALLY want to get rid of someone and couldn't, because they were a director). And then later excellent chances for promotion (maybe involving a reasonable investment in the agency?).

Which would you prefer, anyway? I can see definite bonuses in both.

Did NOT mean to make that sound offputting. I'm very much looking forward to working with you all, and hope you want to be in this agency! This was just to chart your preferences, because I can't quite decide what's best.

If we get the cash together for a large office (or even a warehouse, is anyone strongly in favour of a warehouse?), I'll be very happy to become a co-director with you all. I'm an optimist at heart - can't really believe the worst-case scenarios will happen. So too much emphasis on those in the last post.

Looks like we can expect a lively agency message board... I can't seem to shut up :P

I would like to join. I'm a little inexperienced but smart and competent in various analysis work. I'm willing to join as a Rookie.

That's great, Wayne! I don't think we've had anyone very smart yet. We'll get back to you as soon as the agency is formed. Which I'm still hoping will happen by the end of the week.

Kitten,
I was thinking Mansion. If 9K is what you can afford, maybe we can work shares. I think the mansion holds 10 at 28K so one share is 2800. With 9k you can buy 3 shares. I can afford the other 7 for now. Then we can sell off bits or we can even up when you have more money.

Can't read the help until you have an agency so I don't know exactly how it works. Once two of us go in on a place, we can say, have up to 5 directors (eventually) who payed for 2 shares each? And 5 more who are lower level but chip in for rent?

I'd be interested in joining. I understand Kitten's worries about too many directors and as someone who is only just getting into hard mysteries, I would be prepared to join at a lower level and work my way up. I have some spare money although nowhere near as much as Fat Chuck or Kitten!
For what it's worth, I like Fat Kitten
