The fortune teller is useful if you only have 5 suspects and aren't sure if you are missing anyone. The fortune will tell you if all the suspects have been discovered.

the fortune teller is one of the most useful parts of a case!!
if you have loads of suspects left undiscovered he says "your journey has just begun"
if you have some left undiscovered he says "you have missed many signposts"
if you have none left undiscovered he says "your journey nears it's end"
Hope this clears up any confusion ;)

Right. As you progress through the case levels, you'll notice that each level has a range of possible numbers of suspects, like an incredibly hard case will have 8-9. So if you ask the fortune teller on building your suspect list up to 8, you might save some questions with the suspects that you would otherwise be asking about others with motive.
