Nope, just show how experienced you are and also, if you have enough exp.points you are able to open harder cases.

True, but maybe their most important function is giving a basic idea of how much shady will charge at the moment so you don't spend too much and get in trouble with 2 falses, as shady's prices are directly related to your experience points.
I'm not sure of the exact formula, but shady normally charges me about 1/4 of my experience points.
