What purpose does Experience serve? I know that you gain it per mission, but what can it help you with?

Each level of dificulty will give you a different number of skill points. ie, I believe you get 20 for easy. Incredibly hard, you get 640 experience, and Ridiculously hard is like 2560 for solving the mystery.

You will be able to play harder levels as you gain experience.

Also, as you gain experience, you'll earn skill points to spend on learning new skills. Do keep in mind that as you progress through the game, the it takes a lot more experience to earn skill points.

Experience is also the measure of your overall success in the game, the number used on the high scores boards...
