Any ideas for making an awesome featured mystery? Since not all of us can actually write them but might have some good ideas...

Haha.

I was thinking more of some general ideas that wouldn't give away anything. So like with Wayne Williams' "Green Specter" one thing was cool was the way he put in a key plot event when you talk with J--- at some point. Or developed the townspeople's characters. Stuff like that.

I don't quite get you, sirgarr. Do you mean to say you want to write one, and want people to contribute ideas to you? Or that you want to contribute ideas to others who write?

I agree with Kitten that the ideas should be conveyed privately though.

Either way, Wayne -- it's more like, if people have ideas how to use the limited format in creative ways, that would be helpful. But private suggestions are fine too... I might write one eventually yeah.

I agree that the specific sleuth format does present interesting challenges to writing a mystery. Part of the fun, however, lies in the creative process. As you write, things may occur to you that you had not thought of before.

At least that is the way it was for me. I guess I did introduce a new way of using the suspect answer in Green Specter. But currently, I have no such ideas on hand. Such ideas only come up when I write.

And sirgarr, drop the words "might" and "eventually". START writing now!

And remember, there is no such thing as a Writer's Block. Really.

Yeah, but your notepad can be used for other things than sorting suspects. I haven't had time to do my cases so I just jot down ideas in it. If you make enough notes you practically have a story right there!

I'm trying to write a mystery that is actually scary. Something of a cross between a mystery and a horror story. I know I read one like this once, but I can't really remember what it was. Anyway, it's fun trying to write in a little different genre.

Yes, sirgarr, I concede there is that Whatever-Whatever Block you said. Hahaha!

I'm also glad to hear Ellie and Admin working on theirs... :)

For as is written by the Secret Society of Sun Tzu, "Write not on difficult territory". Seek rather asscoiation with an ancient apothecary shop, where traces of rare poisons may be analyzed and chemist set skills be furthered. For as on any such journey attempt to become truly one with the avatar...
