What do we do when we hit all dead ends?? All the townies stopped talking, clues didn't help, and suspects wont talk?? do we just guess and go on to the next one? I have it down to 2 people, b/ even if i guess the right person, they wont admit it cause I dont have any evidence....

Sounds like it may be a good time to quit the case. :)

You can guess, and IF you guess correctly, even without evidence, they will still confess. However this can become a risky and expensive habit. If you guess wrong, you get a false accustion on your record. After 3 false accustions your detective will be retired and you will have to start fresh with a new one. You can pay off Shady, typically recommended at 2 false accusations, but the more exp. you have the more of your $$ he wants.

Should you join an agency, they can sometimes help you unclam some of these difficult people. :)

Best to quit when there is a question as to who may have done it.

It depends on how many false accusations you have. If you have 2 false accusations or you have enough experience that paying off Shady will put you in the poor house I'd say quit the case. otherwise, I'd call it a calculated risk.

You won't lose Experience Points for quitting a case if that's what you mean Karletos? Quitting is not a 'bad' thing, by any means.

The only exception to this is when you are doing a faction standing case: (the lady with the magnifying glass cutaway) This below is from the Shadow of the Villains section in City Hall:

Your political standings are now affected when you quit a mystery the factions are interested in. The effect is the opposite you would have received for solving the case.

Quitting a case at the worst affects your standings with factions if that twist came up in your case.

Other than that there is no game effect for quitting a case. It is always safer than guessing and getting a False Accusation.

Better to quit a case then to have to pay Shady, although I don't think people pay him much anymore, since most quit cases. Is Shady going broke?:)

Quit ! That's what a professional investigator would do. No evidence, no confessions...DEAD END. Quit!
