Greetings all,
Sorry, I know your all probably sick of all my questions, but I was wondering. Could somebody explain the benefits of research skill to me, I'd really appreciate it.

Research will eliminate a suspect who is lying about his or her alibi. It's a MUST HAVE skill- I've always found it very useful.

Research allows you to clear one suspect who has a fake alibi - by proving they were somewhere else.

If you are doing a case at a level that normally has five suspects with false alibis, this lets you immeditely narrow the list down to four.

Its probably the single most useful skill at any level, but its indispensible at higher levels.

But If he says he was at the butcher, and the butcher says he was, then what's the use? Or is it for when the butcher clams up and I don't want to part with any cash?

Oh, so if five people said "I was with the music teacher." and none of them were, research will help me narrow that to four?

With research, you will get to know one suspect's alibi without having to verify it with a townsperson. ie. no need to ask the butcher in your example.

So I can save questions for different things? Sorry everyone, I feel like a blockhead, its taking me so long to understand. :(
I suppose that once I start taking on hard cases, it will be a very useful skill, so I'll select it.

Lets say mr X says he was at the butcher. Mr x alibi is false. He wasnt at butcher but he had to lie to u cause he did something else that he is ashemed of.

If you dont have research u will go to the butcher and ask: was mr x here? the butcher would say no. So u will have to check if mr x did it.

When u have research you will get the reason mr x is lying (the reason he didnt tell you were he was). so it helps in 3 ways:
1. you dont need to ask the butcher about mr x. Saves you a question with the butcher (or any other townie).
2. you dont need to consider mr x as suspect any more cause u know he was somewhere else. This narrows down the list of people you need to check.
3. if u checked with research before you even talked to mr x, you know you dont need to ask him his alibi. Saves you a question with the suspect.

And dont be afraid to ask questions, there are a lot of very friendly people here!
