why are the levels above Really Hard gray and unable to play?
Do I need to be at a certain skill level or something?

You need a certain amount of experience points for those to be "unlocked". It should tell you how many pts. you need, if you put your pointer on the level you are trying to open.

Dont try to jump a level to soon, you will probably mis skills and equipment. Just stay in a level till it gets to easy.
