I had an account dating back to around 2004 or 2005. It was linked to my old Yahoo Mail account, but I stopped using it about a decade ago. I’ve already messaged the big boss to see if there’s another way to regain access, but so far I haven’t heard back. So I guess that’s a thin rope to tug on.

Of course, the other option is to just start from scratch. But I feel like it would only be worth doing if there’s enough new content to make it a fresh challenge.

Can anyone tell me what new stuff was introduced after 2005?

I’ve heard about things like Nemesis and Rare Items, and I’d love to know more about how they work. For example, is there a definite number of Nemesis out there, or are they unlimited and randomly generated? And what about the Rare Items? Is there a known list of them?

I’m a bit of a completionist. I enjoy the grind and trying to obtain every obtainable item there is. Having a clear list of things to collect also helps satisfy my obsessive-compulsive tendencies.

Basically, I’m trying to figure out how much the game has changed since I last played, and whether starting over would actually give me a substantially different experience.

Wow, where to begin.

Well after 2005 the arch villain hunts were introduced. New locations such as Shangri-La and Cairo. And yes, the nemesis hunts.

Each time you complete a villain hunt (they can be started in Shangri-La at the Prince's palace) you may pick an item from the treasury of the prince. Generally you have a choice between 3 items. They have better stats than gear you gain from favors and can be sold for $48k or $64k.

You need to complete 10 villain hunts before you can start a nemmy hunt. And the number of nemmy hunts is unlimited. After you completed your first nemmy hunt you'll only need to complete 4 villain hunts to start your next nemmy.

In Shangri-La there are two factions, the Tigers & The Tea Steepers. Both will teach a skill. The Tigers will teach you trap detection. The Steepers negotiation. Another "addition" is that when yiou travel between cities you can get hijacked by pirates. If you don't have negotiation you will lose case depending how far you travel. If you travel from London to Shanghai and pirates hijack you, you will lose 4 cases and the money you paid for the travel. It happened to me before I got hijacked twice in a row.

And then there's pets. If you wnat a pet that is a big boost for stats. In order to gain a pet you need to participate in a mini game against other players called furores. You have to enter the amusement park in New York. While finishing furores you can gain brass rings. If you collected 100 brass rings you can trade them for a pet of your choice. You can choose between a dog, cat, parrot or snake.

That’s what I did! I had an account from forever ago that I cannot even remember the detective name. I rejoined about a year ago, and there’s plenty of content and you can catch back up pretty quickly

Wow those sound exciting. I can already see myself grinding these out on down times.

A few questions if its okay.

1. Are the stats of rare items randomized or fixed?
2. If fixed, does anyone have the list of all items so we can choose which we want to chase?
3. Also with pets, are there stats randomized or fixed as well? Is there also a list somewhere?
4. I also heard about super rare secret items (that have different color), are they still obtainable?
5. I also read that there are bugs with furores, have they been fixed?

Oh happy days! It feels good to be back on the old account, reading old messages... Alas Ive lost a lot of data, mails, friends etc...

Its a coincidence that the last villain hunt I was doing was for an Olaf 'Boucher' and pretty much ended my career lol.

Oh man, Im looking forward to picking up the magnifying glass and pipe again but I dont know where to begin. I basically have zero memory of what to do. Its still the same as starting from scratch. lol.
