So, I caught my first villain, I need to go get my reward. It has been a very long time since I have played this game, is there anything I need to do before traveling? Does my detective need to be dressed in shoes only? If my memory serves me correctly.

Many like to travel to Shangri La to collect their reward with shoes only because you will need to have an open slot to store the reward. Also, unless you have the gate key, you will need to solve the gate puzzle again

I should add that it's not 100% necessary to go with shoes only, as you will have an option to sell an item which will open the slot for what you want.
