Research Skill - Always FA?

I've been trying to test this out on my own and searched in previous posts but I guess it's worth asking.

Is it safe to count the researched suspect as having a fake alibi? From reading the text I collect that the suspect is supposed to lie to hide being a thief/ drunk/ generally bad person, but not the murderer.

Is it worth checking the researched suspect as having a valid alibi for the sake of outruling other clammed up suspects?

Thank you very much and have a wonderful day!

The researched suspect can't be the murderer, so you don't have to check his or her alibi, you can safely rule them out.

Exactly. Otherwise that research skill would be obsolete.

Thank you both, but none answered my question. We're past the "researched suspect != murderer".

Example (Really Hard case): 8 suspects, 3 FA + researched suspect, the rest clammed without providing information on their alibi.

Does the researched suspect implicitly have a false alibi A, or could it ever be valid? First case would imply that all clammed suspects have valid alibis.

Based on what I tested until now (whenever I could afford to test), 100% the researched suspect indeed had a false alibi.

Yes ofc the alibi is false. A suspect with a real alibi will never be found at research. The whole purpose of research is to eliminate a suspect with a false alibi.

I mean imagine if research would eliminate a suspect with a real alibi? Seems redundant if you ask me.

Thanks for the confirmation, BadAss!

It's just my deformation (can be read as handicap) from studying logic and computation in Uni. Redundancy in logic exists, we all love it, but this was a matter of game design.

Have a wonderful time!

P.S, for the sake of keywords/ future searches: Research skill implies that the suspect has a false alibi. The said suspect is not the murderer, but can be counted as a false alibi.
